From multiplayer not working issues to straight-up game not launching, the player base of Marvel Rivals has encountered almost every bug/issue that most games come bundled with due to lack of QA. For a game that’s not in early access and catering to such a massive player base, this is really concerning. But even being a bugfest, Marvel Rivals is showing no signs of slowing down. Currently, on Steam alone, the game has over 300K concurrent players. Anyway, after the game’s release, some players, particularly from a specific region, have reported encountering a unique Error Code 403_5 when launching Marvel Rivals. Well, if you too have faced the same error code, consider reading this guide to know why this error occurs and how to fix it.
Well, if you encounter the error code 403_5 in Marvel Rivals when you launch the game, chances are that you are from China. The reports of this error are mostly from players residing currently in China. Interestingly, there are also players living in the EU region encountering the same. China, we can understand why this error code might occur, but EU as well? For now, it seems that these are the only two regions where the probability of encountering this issue is highest. That said, here’s how you can get rid of it.

Marvel Rivals Error Code 403_5: Is there any fix yet?
From the details mentioned earlier, we are sure you must have figured out that the “Restricted Access error code 403_5” is a network-related error. Given its region-based nature, here are some workarounds that you can try.
Use a different network connection
For starters, you can try using a different internet connection to connect to Marvel Rivals once you encounter this error. But if the network change doesn’t fix the problem, try the next fix.
Use VPN/Network Accelerators
Based on the response that a player got from the official Marvel Rivals support team, it seems that using a VPN or network accelerator might do the trick. A VPN bypasses most network restrictions, thereby enabling you to access content that’s primarily inaccessible in a region. So, to bypass this error, consider connecting to some free or paid VPNs. A player got the game working after connecting to a free accelerator named Alien Accelerator. So, you can give it a try as well.
Spam X button on controller (PS5)
Another player was able to force their entry into the game by simply spamming the X button on their PS5 controller. While we can’t really say whether this will work, you can still give it a try.
Change DNS (PC workaround)
If you are encountering this error on your PC, you can try changing the DNS. How? Follow these steps:
- Open the Run box by pressing Windows+R.
- Now, in the Run box, type “ncpa.cpl”. After this, right-click on the active network connection in use and select Properties.
- Now, select the TCP/IP4 option and then click on the Properties button.
- Next, checkmark the Use the following DNS server addresses option, and add the following DNS values:
- Primary: 8.8.8.8
- Secondary: 8.8.4.4
- Once done, save the changes, and then try launching the game.
For now, consider trying these workarounds. If we find more details on how to fix the problem, we will make sure to update this guide accordingly. Until then, stay tuned to DigiStatement as we bring you the best guides on all things gaming on a daily basis.
