When you roleplay as a farmer in Farming Simulator 25 (FS25), the success of your farm is all dependent on your ability to maximize crop yield. In other words, your job as a farmer is not just to plant and harvest your crops but to do all of the things in between to make sure you get the best possible returns. Whether you’re cultivating wheat, corn, or soybeans, you will need the right strategies and techniques to maximize your yield. To spare you the time and effort, here we are with all the best strategies to get a 100% yield boost and maximize your overall yields in Farming Simulator 25.
If you just plant your seeds and forget them, you will get your harvest when the time comes. But all this negligence will cause your land to be less efficient and you will not get the best possible yield. Multiply these across a few fields and you can fathom how much yield you might be losing during your harvest. That being said, follow all the tips we share here and chances are you will hit the 100-yield bonus on almost every crop!
Farming Simulator 25 (FS25): How to maximize yield
If you are wondering where can you see the yield bonus modifier, it is displayed in the field information panel which you can access by standing near or on the field and opening the details screen. The yield bonus percentage is listed here, giving you a clear idea of how your efforts are affecting the potential harvest. Keep an eye on this panel to track improvements and identify areas where further optimization is needed.
Achieving a 100% yield bonus in the game means you are doubling the baseline harvest from your fields. For example, if a field typically produces 5,000 liters of crops without any enhancements, hitting the 100% yield bonus increases that to 10,000 liters. So essentially, you will be doubling your yields from each field. Cutting straight to the chase, to achieve a 100% yield bonus in Farming Simulator 25, you will have to perform a series of steps in a specific order. Each of these steps will contribute a certain percentage toward the yield bonus. If done correctly, you are more likely to hit the 100% yield bonus at all times. Here’s a detailed breakdown:
Step 1: Mulching
Before you go planting the seeds, you will first need to mulch your field. Especially if you have broken down crop stubble left after harvesting. Doing so will help enrich the soil and prepare it for the next crop cycle. To start mulching, all you have to do is attach a mulcher to your tractor. Run the mulcher over the field.
Bonus: 2.5% to 3%
Step 2: Plowing
Once you are done mulching, it is time to plow your field. There are many choices for attachments to plow. Depending on the crop, you will have to make your choice. Anyway, equip your chosen plowing tool and plow the entire field.
Bonus: 15%
Step 3: Rolling
Rolling will push back the small stones back into the soil, preventing damage to equipment and improving seed-to-soil contact. Again, you will have to attach a roller to your vehicle after plowing and roll the field to handle small stones. Also, later down the process, you will have to roll your field again just after the seeding is done; we will come to that in a minute.
Bonus: 2.5% (combined with mulching for 5%)
Step 4: Liming
Even in the real world, liming is an important step in farming. Just to run you through the science, liming will neutralize soil acidity and is required every three harvests. Like with every other step, you will have to get on a vehicle and spread lime evenly across the field using a lime spreader. The interesting thing to note is that the bonus from liming decreases with each harvest:
- 1st harvest after liming: 15%
- 2nd harvest: 10%
- 3rd harvest: 5%
- 4th harvest: 0% (lime required again)
Bonus: 15%
Step 5 and 6: Seeding and Rolling
With lime laid out on your field, plant your crops using a normal seeder or planter. Obviously, to maximize yield you will have to choose a crop suited to the field and season. Use a seeder or planter that does not apply fertilizer (fertilizing is a separate step for maximum control). Once you are done seeding, you will have to roll it again (mentioned earlier).
Step 7: Fertilizing (twice)
After seeding, apply the first layer of fertilizer using a sprayer, spreader, or slurry tanker. Wait for the next growth stage, then apply the second layer of fertilizer. But why apply twice? Well, doing so will give you a 45% Total Bonus. Bonus per stage is roughly around 22.5% and when done twice, gives you a total bonus of 45%.
Step 8: Weeding
With your crops fertilized and growing healthy, it is time to keep those pesky weeds away from the fields. To give you a bit of background, weeds are those unwanted plants growing alongside your crops. They tend to compete with crops for nutrients, reducing yield. Therefore, early removal is critical. Here are the different stages during which you can uproot them and the corresponding bonus they provide.
- Small weeds: 20% bonus
- Medium weeds: 15% bonus
- Large weeds: 10% bonus
Bonus: 20% (maximum when removed early)
Step 9: Harversting!
Finally, once your crops are fully grown, harvest them using the appropriate harvester. Now if you had done all the steps correctly. Chances are you are hitting the 95+ yield bonus if not 100%.
Not hitting 100 percent?
Now, even though this is a solid strategy to maximize yield, keep in mind that reaching a full 100% bonus isn’t always guaranteed. Farming at the end of the day is complex and has a lot of factors such as crop type, weather, soil condition, and even equipment efficiency impacting the final results. This being a simulation game, the variable factors are also present here and therefore, you may not be able to get a 100% bonus at all times. However, the steps outlined here are tried-and-tested strategies that will significantly boost your yield, even if they don’t always hit the 100% mark. By carefully managing each stage of the farming process, you’re setting yourself up for major productivity gains.
