January 24, 2024, saw the early access launch of Keen Games’s co-op survival action RPG, Enshrouded. Players will get to play the role of a Flameborn and do their best to survive in the dangerous lands of Embervale. From exploring caves and dungeons to crafting legendary weapons, there’s a lot to do in Enshrouded. But what’s more, you get to do all this with other players. So, it’s only evident that you would want to know if the game has an in-game chat feature.
When it comes to multiplayer games, communication is a major factor. That’s why features such as in-game chat and voice chat are so important. Now, if you are playing Enshrouded solo, then you don’t really need such a feature. But the moment you start playing with friends, communication becomes a necessity of sorts. Enshrouded in-game chat: Is it available?
As of now, Enshrouded doesn’t have in-game chat. This is quite unfortunate news for those who prefer using text chat as their choice of in-game communication. While this particular feature isn’t available right now, it doesn’t mean that the developers will not be adding it in future updates.
Enshrouded devs happen to have a feature upvote website where players can vote on what features they want to be added to the game. Currently, the most in-demand feature is “Allow for player-based quest progression” with about 9.3k votes, followed by “Weather System” with 4.6k votes, and “Life Skill Progression” with 4.2k votes. Of course, in-game chat is also there. But right now, it only has about 1.1k votes, a considerably low amount compared to other features like Pets, Transmog/Vanity Armor, Auto-pickup items, and such.
Not having an in-game chat in a multiplayer game is certainly strange since it’s one of the most basic things that needs to be there at launch. Currently, if you want something of an alternative to in-game chat, we recommend using Discord. As for when in-game chat will be added, this is the kind of information we aren’t privy to. The first priority of the developers lies in fixing all the issues that Enshrouded currently has. And while there might be other features with more votes, the developers have the final say in what features they would add to the game first. The feature-upvote website clearly states:
“We make the final call: Getting high votes does not mean we can or will make a suggestion happen. We are listening to suggestion and taking the ones we think will fit the vision we have for Enshrouded.”
