Remedy fans can now finally enjoy the next chapter of their favorite horror novelist, Alan Wake. Released on October 27, 2023, Alan Wake 2 is available for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. In true Remedy fashion, AW2 got wide praise from critics and fans alike, with much of the praise going towards its thrilling story that’s excellently complemented by the intense gameplay. But like any other newly released title, AW2 happens to suffer from some unfortunate issues. And this guide, in particular, will help you deal with the inventory slot bug.
The issue here is simple. When in effect, this bug makes the player unable to access some slots in their inventory. But that’s not the end of it. There are also instances where players have found out that the bug doesn’t let them even hover over inventory slots. Considering how important inventory management is in the game, it’s absolutely necessary that a fix for this issue is released. But is there a fix available? Continue reading to find out!
Alan Wake 2 Inventory Slot Bug: Is there any fix yet
Since we are yet to get an official acknowledgement regarding this issue, we suggest you follow the workarounds mentioned below for now. Try not to skip these unless you have already tried one before.
Move your cursor to the opposite direction of the affected slots –
This method is mainly for the bug where it makes you unable to hover over slots. Essentially, what you will be doing is moving your cursor to the affected inventory slots and going the opposite way. Now, from the edge, start pressing the button to move the opposite of the slot you want to use or access. You should now be able to highlight the bugged slots and use them.
Reload a previous save –
You should always make frequent saves in single-player games. Now, if you happen to have a save before you started encountering the bug, load it. Additionally, try loading the save that’s closest to your current progress, as it makes for less backtracking.
Equip a gun next to the stuck slot –
As mentioned here, there’s a way to move your items from the stuck slots. Basically, what you will be doing is finding a gun that needs more than one slot in your inventory and putting it right next to stuck slots. Put it in such a way that the front goes into a stuck slot. Now, you will be able to successfully, move items from the stuck slots. Additionally, we suggest you only keep ammunition in the stuck slots for now.
Meet the Mayor –
One player was lucky enough to get the inventory bug fixed by meeting the Mayor. Now, we don’t know how effective this fix is but we recommend you give it a try once.
Expand inventory –
You can also just expand your inventory and that will basically allow you to ignore the bugged slots and instead use your expanded inventory. It’s not the perfect fix, but still a usable one.
