Ark Survival Ascended (ASA) Ping System Explained & How to Use it

The remake of Ark: Survival Evolved was finally released as an early access title on October 25, 2023, for PC. Called Ark: Survival Ascended, the console version of the game is slated to release sometime in November. One of the main highlights of this remake is the new engine it currently supports, as ASA is now one of the few released games made with Epic’s Unreal Engine 5. Besides that, many gameplay features were revamped, including the ping system.

Like any other ping system, the one in ASA also works the same. Players are given the ability to mark an object or location and edit it as they see fit. Used across various genres, it’s a highly useful feature, especially in survival games like Ark: Survival Ascended. With such a big map and so many interesting locations and animals, it can get quite hard to remember all of their locations. Plus, you can also use the ping feature as a basic system of communication. So, what does this new Ping system in Ark: Survival Ascended have in store for its players? Well, more details on the same are shared below.

The new Ping 2.0 system can be accessed by clicking on the middle mouse button. Once it opens, you will be given the following six options to choose from:

  • Go Here
  • Rally Point
  • Danger
  • Attack
  • Follow
  • Tame

The moment you ping anything, anyone in your tribe and allies will be able to see that ping. Do know that the ping will disappear after a certain amount of time, which can be seen by looking at the ping icon borders. Besides all this, there’s one additional thing that hasn’t been talked about much. And that thing is Waypoints. Unlike the previous pings, the Waypoint pings are permanent, so you don’t need to worry about a timer or anything.

Waypoints

Now, to create a waypoint for your favorite location or something, open your map first and then create a waypoint. Next, name it and edit other things like icons and colors. You can even make texts visible by check marking the Show Text option. Once you are done editing your waypoint, click on Accept.

Being able to mark Waypoints is a game-changer since they are available across all your created characters. And if you feel like your map is getting too crowded with waypoints, just click on them, and they will disappear. Another fun part of this Ping 2.0 system is that you can ping Dinos, Deaths, and even Players. This way, you don’t lose sight of important things, even if you forget where they are.

Well, this is all we know about the new Ping 2.0 system in Ark Survival Ascended. If you want to know how to change in-game language, take a look at this guide. And as always, follow DigiStatement. Also, read: Ark Survival Ascended (ASA): How to Enable/Disable Friendly Fire
