Serving as the spiritual successor to 2014’s game of the same name, it’s yet another new Soulslike title available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. VSync or Virtual Synchronization is a neat little feature that is used to prevent screen tearing in games. Furthermore, VSync is also used to sync a game’s frame rate to a player’s monitor, resulting in a much smoother game session. It’s a really great feature, but it has some downsides of its own. At times, it can contribute to players experiencing input lag. To add to that, you will face some fps drops during graphically intensive sequences or moments. Lords of the Fallen (2023): How to disable VSync
It’s fairly easy to disable VSync in-game. You just have to head to the Settings menu and then switch to the Display tab. Below the Resolution Scale and above the FPS limit option, you will find VSync. Now, you can turn it off. But if the in-game VSync setting is grayed out, that’s because the Frame Generation option is turned on. So, first, turn it off via the in-game Settings menu, and then disable VSync. If that doesn’t work, you will need to head to the game’s config file directory and disable the Frame Generation option. The steps for the same are shared below.
- First, head to the following directory: %AppData%\Local\LOTF2\Saved\Config\Windows.
- Next, find the gameusersettings.ini file, and right-click on it. Select Open with, and then select Notepad.
- After this, find the Frame Generation option. Now, make sure to set it to False.
- Once done, save the changes, launch the game, and check whether you can disable VSync.
However, if you still aren’t satisfied with that, you can disable VSync through the GPU control panel for both NVIDIA and AMD.
NVIDIA
- For NVIDIA GPU users, first launch the NVIDIA Control Panel.
- On the left side of the screen, look for Manage 3D Settings and click on it.
- Now, take a look at the right side of the screen, and there will be two options present: Global Settings and Program Settings.
- The former option applies everywhere, while the latter is only applicable to a selected application. Whichever option you choose, the settings options are the same for both.
- Next, scroll down and look for Vertical Sync. It’s located below Triple buffering and above Virtual Reality pre-rendered frames options.
- Click the Vertical sync option, and from the drop-down menu, select Off. Now, apply the changes, and then launch the game.
AMD
- For AMD GPU users, first launch AMD Radeon Software.
- At the top, you will come across four options: – Home, Gaming, Streaming, and Performance. Select Gaming.
- Now, scroll down until you see the Wait for Vertical Refresh option.
- Click on the drop-down menu beside the option, and select Off, unless application specifies. Now, save the changes and launch the game.
