Lords of the Fallen (2023): How to change in-game Language?

Officially released on October 13, 2023, Lords of the Fallen is Hexworks debut title. And while this might not be a perfect start for a budding studio, it’s still a good enough game to warrant some praise. Now, seeing as LotF happens to be a fairly new release, we have decided to help some curious and confused players deal with issues and features of the game. This guide in particular will help you learn how to change the in-game language.

Like other games, Lords of the Fallen offers a variety of languages to choose from. In fact, the total number of supported languages appears to be twelve, including English. Although audio support is only available in English, the wide variety of language support for both Interface and Subtitles is commendable. And with so many choices around, here’s a guide that you can use to change the in-game language.

Lords of the Fallen (2023): How to change in-game Language?

It’s fairly easy to change in-game language in Lords of the Fallen. If you are a PC player, go to Menu and then to Settings. Next, you will come across a bunch of tabs. Ignore everyone except for the one named Gameplay. After switching to the Gameplay tab, scroll down, and at the very end, you will see the Language sub-option. You can now change whatever language you want to use.

Now, as for consoles, this is where it gets complicated. For some strange reason, Hexworks has not made the language option available to console players, i.e., Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. This has resulted in a lot of players in the community complaining about it. Don’t worry, though. As stated here, there’s still a way to change the language for the game. How? The current method for changing in-game language for both consoles is by making changes to the system language. So, what you need to do is –

PS5

  • Go to your console’s Home Screen first.
  • Click on the Settings icon located at the top and you will be taken to the Settings screen.
  • Now, keep scrolling down until you come across the System option.
  • On the next screen, there will be another set of options to choose from. Select the one named Language.
  • Now that you have selected Language, take a look at the right and you will see two sub-options –
    • Console Language
    • Input Language
  • Click on Console Language to choose and use whichever language you want your system to be in. As for Input Language, click on Add Languages and select one of your choices.

Additionally, you can also head back to the Home screen, find the Lords of the Fallen tile, and press Options. Now, select Manage Game Content and see if it allows you to download Language data.

Xbox Series X/S

  • First, click on the Xbox logo on your controller, and then switch to Profile & System.
  • Now, scroll down and select Settings.
  • On the next screen, ignore every option except for System. After that, switch to the right side of the screen and select Language & Location.
  • You will now get to see two main options: system and input. Under System, click on the Language sub-option and choose the language you want to use from the drop-down menu. End the process by clicking on the Restart Now button.

Well, that’s all you need to know about changing language in Lords of the Fallen. Removing the language option from consoles is a very strange decision by the developers, so we do hope that Hexworks corrects this mistake. And just in case you are having issues with crossplay in the game, take a look at this guide. And as always, keep checking out DigiStatement for more guides and info on Lords of the Fallen.
