Starfield ECS Constant location bug

Ever since Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield came out, players have experienced different bugs and errors that have troubled them exponentially. Starfield being one of the very few space-themed RPG titles of 2023, the expectations of fans were quite high. And, to be fair, the game has indeed delivered on that promise and has become a juggernaut in the RPG genre. With different unique quests and tasks, Starfield keeps the players occupied for as long as they sit in front of the screen. However, quite a few of these quests are buggy, and players are taken aback by the bugs. One such issue in the game happens after the First Contact quest, where the players can’t find the ECS Constant ship at its supposed location. If you’re facing the ECS Constant location bug in Starfield, consider reading this guide until the end to find out how to fix this issue.

So, the Quest bugs in Starfield are pretty annoying. We have discussed several in-game bugs and also shared how to fix them. If you want to know more, click here. Anyway, during the First Contact mission, if you purchase the Grav Drive and convince the colony leaders to look for a different settlement to settle, you will eventually get the option to free Janet by delivering 50 potatoes to Captain Brackenridge. However, after spending hours finding the potatoes, when you head towards the quest marker where the ship is supposed to be, you might not be able to find it at that location. Some players also reported being unable to find the ESC Constant at all, not even once. This is a serious problem, as you cannot progress through the mission without getting access to the ship. That said, we have shared a bunch of workarounds for you to try to get rid of this bug.

Starfield ECS Constant Location Bug: How to Fix?

Use Console Commands (PC only)

Well, if you’re facing this bug in the game, then we have good news for you. You can actually bypass this bug if you’re comfortable using console commands. Now, before we share more details on the same, you need to remember one thing. If you use console commands, the game might disable achievements for your current save. If you’re okay with this fact, you can follow the instructions mentioned above to fix this issue. Well, this workaround was shared by Reddit user ramagefreak, and many have reported that doing so fixed the issue for them. So, give it a try.

  • First, you will need a second ship to complete the quest.
  • Next, find the 50 potatoes and add them to your inventory.
  • After this, press the Tilde (~) key to access the console command box, and type “coc SettleECSConstantint01” without the quotes, and then hit enter. This will get you teleported to ECS Constant.
  • Now, perform a quick save and then reload the game.
  • Follow the tasks as the quest instructs you to, i.e., deliver the potatoes to the Captain and then talk to Janet.
  • After this, open the console command box again and then type “coc CityNewAtlantisLodgeInt” without the quotes and hit enter.
  • This time, you will be teleported to New Atlantis. However, you won’t find your ship here.
  • The next steps are quite simple. Just visit the Ship Services Technician, and here, make the second ship your main ship.
  • Then, switch back to your original ship as the home ship, and it will appear there.

Reload a previous save

Well, if you are still unable to find the ship or access it, we recommend reloading a previous save and retrying the quest. Doing so might fix the issue.

Wait

If the issue persists, then all you can do is wait for the developers to release a fix for it. Well, since Bethesda hasn’t really acknowledged this bug yet, the chances of receiving an official fix are quite slim.

Well, this is how you can fix the ECS Constant location bug in Starfield. Hopefully, you’ll find this guide helpful. Stay tuned to DigiStatement for more such gaming-related content and guides and more!
