No one would’ve thought that Nuverse’s Marvel Snap would go on to be so popular among the digital card-collecting card game community. Released back in 2022, the game has been increasing its player base ever since its official launch on PC, and so far, it has seen no slowdown. At this point, Marvel Snap is a serious contender for the best digital card-collecting game. But for that to happen, it will need to beat Hearthstone, LOR, and Shadowverse. And it’s quite possible to do that if new players keep coming to the game. Anyway, with the game’s recent full release on Windows PC, lots of players are wondering about the release date of a macOS version of Marvel Snap.
Gamescom 2023 revealed lots of exciting games, and among those was the PC release of Marvel Snap’s full version. Yes, that’s right. Thanks to this release, there’s a renewed interest in the game’s macOS version. So, are there any updates on that? Let’s find out!
Marvel Snap macOS Version Release Date: When is it coming out
As of now, Nuverse has made no announcements or given any updates when it comes to a macOS release date for Marvel Snap. As stated earlier, at Gamescom 2023, the developers officially released the game on PC through Steam, but there was no mention of a macOS version.
However, the game has been available on M1 and M2 Macs for some time now, but according to player statements, those don’t work well since they are designed for mobile and tablets. “As of this writing the game is still completely broken on M1 and M2 Macs.”, commented one Reddit user about the game being available for download on M1/M2 Macs. They further added- “It doesn’t launch. Just appears in the top menu and then as soon as you hover your mouse over it, you get the rainbow wheel of doom.”
Many in the Marvel Snap discord community did ask questions about a macOS version release date, but for now, all those questions are yet to be answered by the developers. Why such a long silence from Nuverse? Well, we can’t give you an official explanation, but from our standpoint, it is clear that macOS gaming is very niche right now. Years ago, the niche video gaming platform space was occupied by Linux and macOS. But ever since the advent of Steam Deck, Linux has achieved far greater popularity and wider adoption than macOS. And since the player base of the macOS version is so small compared to other platforms, devoting time and resources to it might not seem feasible enough for the developers.
For now, macOS players will have to take a wait-and-see approach if they want to play the game on macOS. The release date for this version is still shrouded in mystery, so if we do get any kind of update on it, we will update this article.
