Palia: How to Change/Switch Shepp

Palia, the debut title from Singularity 6 Corporation, is currently in its open beta phase since August 10, 2023. The cozy-sim MMO has been a huge success for the studio. Players seem to be enjoying the game to its fullest, and the dev team did release their first post-open beta update, which introduced pets into the game among many other things. Now, one of the many aspects of Palia is its Shepp system. And players want to know if they can change or switch their selected Shepp in the game.

If you haven’t already selected your Shepp or are unaware of what a Shepp is, you can check out this guide here. However, in a nutshell, it’s essentially a mentor system. Players can choose any villager as their shepp except for the young/child ones, since they are inexperienced. As you progress in your in-game journey and build friendship levels with the villagers, you will have the opportunity to choose a particular shepp of your choice. But what if you selected the wrong one and now want to undo the process? Is it even possible? Let’s find out.

As of now, there’s no way to change or switch your already-chosen Shepp in Palia. Currently, the game doesn’t offer such an option to its players, despite the ongoing community demand for the same. So, if you were thinking of changing or trying out a new Shepp, unfortunately, you will have to make do with the current selected Shepp, at least for now.

Will such an option be available in the future?

Honestly, the answer to that question lies somewhere between no and might be. Singularity 6 Corporation hasn’t hinted at or shown any interest in introducing such a feature into the game so far. However, players should know that the game is currently in the open beta phase and that the dev team’s priorities lie somewhere else at the moment.

Many players do indeed desire to change or switch their Shepp, but among those desires are more important ones like monetization changes, romance options, and such that take precedence over something as trivial as changing Shepp. Another thing that we would like to add is that right now the Shepp feature in particular is pretty much half-baked. After choosing your Shepp, there are only a handful of things you can do with them. The 0.166 update did add “The Acceptance Ceremony” quest, but that is it when it comes to anything related to the Shepp feature. Suffice it to say, at its current state, there’s really not much to the Shepp feature in Palia.

Now, the game is still some months away from its eventual full release, and during this time, we could see the dev team expanding upon the Shepp mechanic. It’s evident that lots of players want the Shepp feature to expand, and we are sure that the developers have noticed that. For now, players can only take a wait-and-see approach when it comes to this Shepp feature. If there are any announcements related to the Shepp mechanics in Palia, we will be sure to let our readers know about them.
