Railway Empire 2 Game Modes

For the fans of Railway Empire, Kalypso Media introduced their latest game, Railway Empire 2, on May 25, 2023. Gaming Minds Studios released Railway Empire 2 on the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox series X/S, and Xbox One. The game is available on Xbox Game Pass and will release on Nintendo Switch as well in June 2023. Like Railway Empire, Railway Empire 2 is a simulation and strategy-planning game where you have to build and develop your railway business. If you have purchased the game, you may have noticed that it features five unique modes that you can choose from. Have you wondered what exactly these different modes offer? How are they different from each other? In this guide, we will provide you with all the information you need to know about the game modes featured in Railway Empire 2.

Kalypso Media’s Railway Empire was a huge success among fans of simulation and strategy games. Considering this popularity, the studio released Railway Empire 2 in an almost similar fashion. Both games are almost identical, but there are certain differences. In Railway Empire 2, you are a railway tycoon in the 1800s, and have to expand your empire. The game includes two regions to play in: one in continental Europe and one in the US, with each region containing eight maps. You get to pick from any of the six characters in the game, and if you are a fan of locomotives, this game is an absolute treat. The game features 60 different locomotives from the era of the industrial revolution. Additionally, things get more interesting with the 4-player co-op mode, which allows you to play with your friends as you would’ve wanted. That said, let’s discuss the available game modes.

Railway Empire 2 Game Modes Explained

Railway Empire 2 All Game Modes Explained

Kalypso Media has included five unique game modes in Railway Empire 2, and each features a different experience. The game modes are: – Campaign, Scenarios, Sandbox, Custom, and Multiplayer.

Campaign Mode

Just like Railway Empire, Railway Empire 2 features a campaign mode that is spread over five chapters. You start playing as one of the six characters, overcome the challenges, topple the competition, and drive your railway empire toward success. This is a detailed journey of a railway empire through the years, and you’re going to love this mode if you loved playing Railway Empire.

Scenarios

In the Scenarios mode, you can pick your character and your competitors and play against the odds to reach the top of the leaderboard. You have 14 different scenarios to choose from, each of which will have its own set of difficulties.

Sandbox

In sandbox mode, you will have no competition and no tasks. You will be given unlimited resources, and all you need to do is build an empire from your own imagination. However, while having no restrictions might boost your creativity, it can also make the game lack a bit of an exciting edge.

Custom

The custom game mode allows you to choose every minute detail while playing the game. Pick your character, pick the starting year, and even pick the challenges that you want to set for yourself. In Custom mode, you can completely unleash your tycoon mind.

Multiplayer

The game also features a multiplayer mode that allows you to play four-player co-op with your friends. You can build your railway empire together in this mode. However, for players on the Nintendo Switch, this mode is sadly not yet available.

So these are all the game modes featured in Railway Empire 2. With the game releasing just a few days ago, there’s so much more to unpack. Keep your eyes on DigiStatement for more Railway Empire 2 news and content.
