Many longtime fans praised the game for its open-world setting, combat, and well-designed levels, which execute the theme very well. While the game is fun and optimized, for the most part, it isn’t flawless and has few issues. Many players raised complaints on official forums that the game isn’t performing well despite running on beefy hardware. Run the game in borderless fullscreen mode & lower graphics settings
Launch the game and go to Options, tap on Graphics and scroll down and change the options below.
- Set Shadow quality to “Low”.
- Ambient Occlusion – Off
- Resolution – user preference
- Screen Mode – Windowed or Borderless Fullscreen.
- Vsync – Off
- Graphics Quality – Low

Perform a clean installation of graphics.
- To perform a clean installation of graphics card drivers, go to your GPU manufacturer’s website like NVIDIA or AMD.
- Select your model and download the latest drivers.
- After downloading, install them on your system and then restart the game.
Run the game on dedicated GPU
If you’re running Sonic Frontiers on a gaming laptop with dual GPUs, chances are it’s using the integrated one. To fix this, follow the steps below.
- In the Start menu search box, type “Graphics settings” and click on the first result.
- Click on “Browse” and then navigate to the game’s installation directory. Here, select SonicFrontiers.exe and click on “Add”.
- Click on the game in the list and click on “Options”, select “High Performance”. Then, click on “Save”.
- After this, launch the game.
Set priority to High via Task Manager
To make the game run without any stutters, setting the priority to high can be effective. Your PC will prioritize and allocate most resources to the game if you do this. Follow the steps below to do it.
- Start Sonic Frontiers first and minimize the game, right click on the Start menu and select “Task Manager”.
- Click on the Details tab in it and locate Sonic Frontiers in the running apps.
- Right-click on it and hover over “Set Priority” and select “High”.
Run the game as Administrator
- Go to the installation directory of Sonic Frontiers and right-click on its .exe file and select “Properties”.
- Click on the “Compatibility” tab and tick the “Run this program as Administrator” option.
- Click on “Apply” and “Ok” and launch the game.
Update Windows
- Go to “Settings” by typing it in the Start search box. Now, click on the first result, then click on “Update and Security”.
- Here, select the “Check for Updates” option. After your windows update is installed, run the game and see if the issue is fixed.
Verify game files
- Open Steam and go to Library, right-click on Sonic Frontier, and select “Properties”
- Click on the “Local Files” tab, and click on the “Verify the integrity of game files” option.
- Once the process is complete, launch the game.
Disable background apps
If you’re constantly experiencing FPS drops, and stutters, make sure to close all overlay and overclocking apps. If that didn’t work then unplug external devices like controllers, and multiple monitors, and then start the game.
