According to the game’s description, Old Keys are ancient artifacts that once were well known in the Old World. You need similar artifacts if you wish to penetrate the deepest parts of Dinkum which have their own secrets that the game intends for players to discover. The catch is that they are very difficult to find in the early game, so how do you locate one? You can do so by leveling up more that’ll get you access to licenses and by having more money. Now that we’ve briefed you on what is Old Keys, it’s time we get into where you can find them and what it does in the game.
Where to find Old Keys in Dinkum?
Old Keys are generally found in Barrels and are one of the places where you can look for the ancient item. There are two types of barrels where the keys can be found and we’ve mentioned them below.
Hidden Barrels
Like their type, they can’t be found so easily and you might need to do some legwork and preparation. You need to get the Metal Detecting and Shovel License first as they’ll allow you to own metal detectors and shovels. After securing a shovel, pickaxe, licenses, and lastly metal detector, you can now proceed to find hidden barrels. Keep searching the area and as soon as the metal detector picks something up, dig the ground and use a pickaxe to break the barrels. If you’re in luck, you’ll find Old Keys lying in those hidden barrels in Dinkum.
Rusty Barrels
Unlike hidden barrels, Rusty/Surface Barrels can be found scattered all around the world and are easier to spot. They often contain various gizmos and artifacts for players to take. There’s a high chance the Old Keys are there.
Purpose of Old Keys in the game?
Now that you’ve acquired Old Keys in Dinkum after so many efforts, you might be puzzled about what to do with it. Well, the keys are generally useless until you unlock the unique Deep Mines. Mind you, the enemies in the mines are much stronger and can one-shot you if you’re not careful. However, you can mine plenty of ores so that’s one reason why you should go to Deep Mines. There are a few locked doors there as well which lead to the treasure room and contain legendary loot. Keep in mind that each room has two locked doors, meaning you’ll need at least two Old Keys to open them so make sure to farm them using the abovementioned methods.
