The next-gen console of Sony has amazing capabilities when it comes to playing media files of any kind and comes with inbuilt apps that enhance viewing pleasure. Apps like Spotify and Apple Music are some of the ways that you can enjoy music on your PS5, however, if you don’t want to go through all of the troublesome methods and instead want to enjoy your playlist stored on the USB, you can do so very easily. However for it to work, there are a few things that you have to keep in mind. The media playback started in PS consoles allowed users to enjoy games, music, and movies at ease without delving into complicated methods and the tradition is being carried on to the next-gen console PS5 as well. However, in order for the console to read the contents of the USB stick, it is important to format the USB drive to either an exFAT or FAT32 format. Once you’re done formatting the drive, you can simply copy your music from the PC and enjoy it on your PS5. With that being said, follow the steps mentioned below to play the music on PS5.

How to play music from a USB drive on PS5

You can enjoy music in the comfort of your home and your customized playlist easily. To get started, follow the given steps

  • Once you’ve plugged in your USB stick on your PC, locate your USB drive in the File Explorer. After this, create a ShareFactory folder. Now, format the USB drive to exFAT format
  • After you’ve formatted your USB drive, create a Music folder, then head to the folder where your music files are stored
  • Select the music that you like and copy them
  • Paste all of the songs in the Music folder of the USB Drive
  • Unplug your USB device from your PC and plug the USB into your PS5. Now, press the PlayStation button on your controller and select the Music icon. Scroll all the way to the bottom and select “General USB Flash Disk”, and you’ll see all of the music stored on your USB stick on your PS5. From here, select the music that you want to listen to, and have fun. This is how you can play music on your PS5.
