Zephon Factions: How many are there?
To put it simply, in Zephon, there are three primary “factions”: Human, Cyber, and Alien Monsters. Obviously, each of these factions represents distinct playstyles and unique unit types, but you aren’t strictly limited to using units from only one faction. Anyway, the three factions are:
- Human
- Cyber
- Alien Monsters
While each faction has unique attributes, you aren’t locked into only one faction’s units. At the beginning of each game, you have the option to select from eight different Leaders. Each of these leaders has a natural affinity toward one of the factions. However, leaders also have individualized buffs and nerfs that influence their gameplay styles. So, even though three of the leaders lean toward the Human faction, they each bring unique abilities and traits, leading to different strategies and playstyles within that faction.
Cross-Faction Combinations and Flexibility
One of Zephon’s unique features is its cross-faction potential. Although it may be initially challenging, with time you can recruit units from multiple factions, building forces that leverage the strengths of Human, Cyber, and Alien Monsters alike. So, later on in the game, you will be able to blend units and go for innovative strategies, where, for example, a primarily Human force could benefit from a few powerful Cyber units or the unpredictable chaos of Alien Monsters.
AI and NPC Factions
In addition to the leaders you control in the game, each game features three NPC leaders, one for each faction. AI leaders in the game generally stick to units within their affiliated faction, but they sometimes incorporate units from other factions as well. Furthermore, an unlockable game setting will allow you to restrict yourself and AI leaders to only their affiliated faction’s units.
