Zenless Zone Zero 2.2 is expected to release on September 4, 2025, with a livestream scheduled for August 23, 2025. This comes in as the developers have been impressively consistent with their patch rollouts, dropping a fresh update every 42 days. While official announcements for the 2.2 update from HoYoverse are pending, we have some news about the current status of the game. The currently active version 2.1, “The Impending Crash of Waves,” features Yuzuha and Alice as new agents. So, firstly, let’s get to discussing all the characters that are going to be added from 2.2 onwards.
Based on existing lore, Orphie is a member of the Obol Squad with a shy personality who works alongside Magus. Orphie’s potential skin could lean into her being an electric-type attack agent. She could complete the Aftershock team with some extra flair.
Seed, that is another member of the Obol Squad, is rumored to be a robot that’s controlled by a girl. So, it’s more like a robot suit. It is being speculated that they are going to be an Electric Defense unit
Manato might debut as an S-rank agent of the Spook Shack faction, who uses a claymore as his primary weapon. Based on the gameplay videos that are surfacing, he might be a Fire-stun type agent and is said to have strong synergy with Alice and Yuzuha. Although Alice debuts in the second half of version 2.1.
Apart from this, the 2.2 version will have new skins that might be for the upcoming featured agents, i.e., Orphie and Seed.
Zenless Zone Zero 2.2 beta: Banners, Roadmap, Drip marketing & more
The drip marketing campaign that is supposed to reveal further details of the upcoming characters is expected to go live around 21 July. We can also expect that two characters, either Trigger or Anby, might get a rerun, while Evelyn will pop up later. Also, Harumasa, an electric-type attack role character, might make a comeback.
This does not end with the 2.2 version update, as we have news right up to the 2.5 patch. There has also been word about the 2.3 patch in which Lucia will be introduced as a playable S-rank character. Along with her, Zhao from the Erin faction is rumored to make her debut. In the 2.5 patch, a whole new faction called the Angels of Delusion might be added. The characters that will become playable are going to be Chinatsu, who could be an ice support character. Then there’s Yutane, who is rumored to have both human and robot form, an ether anomaly type agent. The third member is supposed to be a physical type stunner who could switch between close and long-range combat styles.
That should cover all the information and news regarding the patch updates going to be rolled out soon. Though some of it might just seem to be speculation, there is a good reason to have faith in them, as multiple sources have cited the same thing.
