Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (ToTK): How to install First Person Mod for Yuzu & Ryujinx Emulator (PC)

Despite having six-year-old hardware along with a not-so-capable chipset, the Switch is still a neat little device that has been able to run games like Doom (2016), Nier: Automata, Doom Eternal, and most recently Nintendo’s own The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Thanks to some amazing technical work by Nintendo EPD and Monolith Soft, ToTK can run at 30 FPS on the console most of the time without much lag or stuttering. However, for some, that isn’t acceptable, and that’s why they decided to play the game on emulators instead of running natively on the Nintendo Switch. And with anything PC-related, come mods. ToTK already has a good amount of mods that improve the gameplay experience on emulators. But many have gone even further and made some interesting mods too. Now, a new first-person view mod is available for players.

Zelda games have never featured first-person gameplay. The minute they entered the 3D era of games, all of them went with the third-person view. This makes sense since this viewing angle is better suited for action-adventure games. But there are always some people who like to try different and unique things. Tears of the Kingdom isn’t the first game to receive a first-person mod, nor will it be the last. So, how do you install the first-person mod for Zelda ToTK on the Yuzu and Ryujinx emulators? Let’s find out!!

First of all, you need to have Tears of the Kingdom installed on your PC. You can head to the following links to get access to the guides on how to download and install the game on both emulators.

  • Ryujinx
  • Yuzu

Next, download the “Immersive Camera – First Person Exploration” mod. Note that the mod will automatically switch to a third-person view when you enter combat or are swimming and jumping.

For Yuzu –

Extract the first-person mod folder and place the folder on the desktop. Now, open the Yuzu Emulator, right-click on Tears of the Kingdom, and select “Open Mod Data Location”. Drag and drop the mod folder here and close the new window. Or, you can add the mod folder to this directory: %appdata%/Roaming/Yuzu\\load\0100F2C0115B6000. After this, right-click on Tears of the Kingdom again, and this time select Properties. In the “Add-Ons” tab, you will see the name of the folder you just added. Ensure that the checkbox beside it is checked. Press “Ok” and launch the game.

For Ryujinx –

After downloading the mod, extract it into a particular directory. Next, open the Ryujinx emulator and right-click on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Select the “Open Mods Directory” option. A new window will open where you can put mods for the game. Drag and drop the extracted folder into this mod directory and close the window. Run the game to play Tears of the Kingdom in first-person view.

Do note that when you are in the first-person view, there will be no hud view. For more guides like this, follow DigiStatement.
