Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (ToTK): Can you avoid Lightning

Nintendo’s latest launch, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is a fan-favorite game in its own rights. The sequel to Nintendo’s classic, Zelda Breath of the Wild, successfully takes the players on an adventurous journey with the game’s main character, Link. And just like in BoTW, the weather plays a key part in Tears of the Kingdom as well. The game features diverse weather conditions like extreme temperature fluctuations and thunderstorms. This can prove to be fatal for Link if not addressed properly. Getting struck by lightning in the game is one such issue that players need to take care of. During a thunderstorm, Link faces the possibility of getting struck by lightning, which can be very fatal. But, is possible to avoid getting stuck by it?

The developers have done an impressive job in developing the in-game mechanics for Tears of the Kingdom, and the severe weather conditions are a perfect example of this. Yes, dealing with extreme heat, cold, or thunderstorms can be tricky, but that’s also what makes this game challenging and fun to play. If you’re familiar with Breath of the Wild, then you know that this is not a new feature in the game. You would also know that it’s really easy to avoid getting electrocuted by lightning in the Zelda franchise using some simple tricks.

How to avoid getting struck by lightning in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (ToTK): Can you avoid Lightning

As soon as Link faces a thunderstorm in ToTK, there is a possibility that he gets struck by lightning. Getting struck by lightning will deal 14.5 hearts of damage. But it’s actually easy to understand if and when you’re facing a risk of getting thunder-struck. And here’s how you deal with it –

  • Link will face a risk of getting thunder-struck if he’s wielding a metal weapon during a thunderstorm. As soon as it starts to rain, it’s wise to unequip any metallic weapon or shield that you’re using. You can understand if your weapon or shield is made of metal by checking your inventory. The metallic ones will have a shine to them, which distinguishes them from other weapons.
  • If somehow you didn’t remember to unequip the metallic gears and weapons, you can still avoid getting struck by lightning. All you need to do is notice if any metallic gear is having electricity crackling on them. This is a sign that these gears are attracting lightning. You need to get rid of these within the next few seconds to avoid getting electrocuted.
  • There are some armors that will give you shock resistance and will be helpful during thunderstorms. These are the Rubber Armor set or Thunder Helm. You can equip Link with this armor if you have them to give him protection from lightning.
  • Some consumables will also give you electric resistance. Electro Elixir is one such dish that you can cook and consume to get resistance to electricity.
  • Otherwise, you can wait under a shade or by fire to avoid getting struck by lightning. This way, you have to wait it out until the thunderstorm passes before you can go about your quest again.

As mentioned, lightning in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom can be avoided by following these tricks and tips. With the game being released only a week ago, there’s still so much to unfold about Tears of the Kingdom. Stay tuned to DigiStatement to get more content on ToTK and all of your favorite games.
