What does Hunting Pressure mean in The Hunter: Call Of The Wild?

The Hunter: Call of the Wild is the most recent entry in The Hunter series by Avalanche Studios. Developed and published under the name Expansive Worlds, the game was released back in 2017. It’s one of the older hunting games and also a popular one. In fact, the game continues to receive updates from the developers and most recently received the Emerald Coast Australia and Layton Lake Cosmetic Pack on June 20, 2023. It’s safe to say that you don’t have to worry about the game getting stale pretty fast since the developers continue to support this title. Now, if you are a newcomer to the series or the game, then you must be wondering what exactly Hunting Pressure is in Call of the Wild. If you are wondering the same thing, consider reading until the end.

Hunting is a niche genre. That much is pretty well known. Because of that, the number of good hunting games is very low. The Hunter series, specifically Call of the Wild, is among the best hunting games. Well, it has achieved this feat with its intriguing gameplay mechanics and the content updates it receives. Now that the game is more than half a decade old, it can become hard for many newcomers to completely grasp every gameplay mechanic. That’s why this guide will help you become familiar with what Hunting Pressure is.

What Does Hunting Pressure Mean in The Hunter: Call Of The Wild?

For the uninitiated, Hunting Pressure is a gameplay mechanic in The Hunter: Call of the Wild that activates or is created when the player kills an animal. Hunting Pressure will trigger the moment the animal dies. Although rather than appearing at the place where the animal died, it will instead appear at the exact center where the player first shot the animal.

When Hunting Pressure starts building, surrounding animals will start avoiding that area. Eventually, with enough Hunting Pressure in a particular area, there will be no more Need Zones. What is a Need Zone, you ask? Put simply, it’s a designated area where animals will go to sleep, drink, and eat.

So, players will need to keep track of their hunting area, as too much Hunting Pressure will remove Need Zones. However, the game has put a limit on the number of Hunting Pressure a map can have. How many? Ten, to be exact. You will be able to easily identify Hunting Pressure on the map as it’s illustrated by colors ranging from grayish violet to glaring pink, all depending on the intensity of the Hunting Pressure in that area.

How to Avoid Hunting Pressure?

If you want to avoid Hunting Pressure from concentrating on an area, then do your best to not kill more than three (3) animals in that particular area. Remember, the exact center of the Hunting Pressure will be the area where you first shot the animal. You can use this knowledge to search for a wounded animal, as most of the time they will leave a blood trail from that spot. Tree stands, bows and hunting structures also help prevent Hunting Pressure from building up in an area, as they produce only ¼ of Hunting Pressure when the animal dies.

With that said, we hope that this guide has helped you understand what Hunting Pressure means in The Hunter: Call of the Wild. For more guides and information on the game, don’t forget to bookmark DigiStatement. Also read: The Hunter Call of the Wild: Top 10 Best Weapons (2022)
