The Steam Deck has proved to be a wonderful gaming device ever since its launch in 2022. From AAA gaming to emulation, it’s one of, if not the best, hardware Valve has ever put out. However, the Deck isn’t just limited to games. It is also home to a lot of wonderful apps, too. And one of those happens to be the WeMod app. However, recently there have been complaints about the app not working properly at all on the Deck.
There could be a lot of reasons why the WeMod app is not working as intended on your Deck. Anything from an unsupported game to using it in Gaming Mode could be a possible cause behind this issue. What we are here trying to communicate is that finding the root cause of such an issue can be hard. But that doesn’t mean it’s an unfixable issue. So, without much further ado, continue reading to find out all the workarounds available for the WeMod not working on the Steam Deck issue.
WeMod Steam Deck not working: How to fix it?
Since there’s no official fix for this issue, players will have to make do with the following workarounds:
Check if a game has anti-cheat –
WeMod doesn’t work if a game comes with anti-cheat installed. As such, you should always first ensure that the game you are trying to use mods for is free of anti-cheat software. Now, if a game doesn’t have one and you are still facing issues with WeMod, try another workaround.
Avoid multiplayer games –
In case you didn’t know, WeMod is exclusively made for single-player games. As such, using it for multiplayer titles will result in nothing. So, from now on, avoid using the WeMod app for multiplayer titles and stick to single-player games only.
Use in Desktop Mode –
WeMod tends to work better in Desktop Mode than in Gaming Mode. So, switch to Desktop Mode first, and then only launch WeMod. If the issue continues to persist, switch to some other workaround.
The game is unsupported –
Not every game works or is going to work with WeMod. While the list of supported games for WeMod is increasing, it’s still only over 2500+. If a game is indeed unsupported by WeMod, you will see this message: “This game is not supported by WeMod. This is due either to technical aspects that make it impractical to mod or to the possible multiplayer nature of the game.” So, if you see this message, better switch to trying other games.
Reinstall –
If none of the aforementioned workarounds are of help, we suggest that you reinstall WeMod on your Deck. While we can’t really say if this will work, you should still give it a try once and see if it helps.
