When it comes to Warhammer games, especially 40K ones, the number of good ones is fairly smaller than those that can be considered bad and okay. Fatshark’s Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is somewhere in the middle of that. Officially released on November 30, 2022, for Windows, the game serves as a spiritual successor to the Vermintide series. While Vermintide was set in Warhammer Fantasy, Fatshark decided to jump to 40K with Darktide. The gameplay part of DarkTide is certainly great, but Fatshark’s incompetence with bugs and issues, along with the lack of improvement of the game, has made the player base particularly disappointed. And this guide, in particular, will focus on one of those errors that’s been giving players a hard time. So, which error is this? Well, error code 3013, of course!
When encountered, players get the following message: Error Code 3013: Failed to join a lobby. As you might have guessed by now, this is a server-side error and one that’s been a source of frustration for months. Sometimes players get disconnected from matches, while there are instances where they just get booted back to the menu. Essentially, it’s occurrence is random and can be quite hard to deal with. So, is there a fix? Well, continue reading to find out!
Warhammer 40K DarkTide Error Code 3013: Is there any fix yet
For now, you can follow the workarounds mentioned below and see if any of them are of help. Try not to skip these unless you have already tried them before.
Restart –
First of all, we suggest you do a restart of both the game and the PC itself. Sometimes, all it takes to fix an issue is to simply use the restart method, so try this before anything else. And by chance, if the error continues to show up, try the next workaround.
Verify game files –
Tiromir, on the official forums of the game, was able to somewhat circumvent this issue by simply verifying the game files. As such, you can and should try this too. Now, all you need to do is:
- Open Steam and navigate to Library.
- From there, right-click on the game and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
- Once the verification is over, restart the PC and then launch the game.
Disable Nvidia Reflex –
Some players have suggested disabling Nvidia Reflex fixed the issue for them. As to how to do that, just head to the in-game Options menu and, from there, switch to the Video tab. Find Nvidia Reflex Low Latency under Performance and switch it from Enabled to Disabled. See if you encounter the error once again. Additionally, you can also try running the game in Fullscreen mode. However, if you are already doing that, then ignore this part.
Disable other anti-cheat background processes –
You can also try disabling the anti-cheat background process that happens to be running on your system. Anti-cheats like the Vanguard, BattleEye, and such should be closed. Open your Task Manager and see if any of them are running in the background. If yes, then select that process, and then click on End Task. After this, launch the game, and check if the issue persists.
Update GPU drivers –
Darktide happens to be very driver-sensitive, so make sure you have the most stable GPU driver version installed. After you’ve done that, launch the game and check if the issue persists. Additionally, you should also make sure that the game has all the available updates.
Check server status –
We also recommend that you check the game’s server status. Error codes like this can become a common sight when the servers go under maintenance and the like. Since Darktide doesn’t have a dedicated server status website, the next best thing would be either the official Twitter page or the Discord server.
Switch Network –
As per various reports, the primary cause of this issue stems from the type of network connection in use. If you are using a 4G network to play the game, consider connecting to Wi-Fi and trying again.
Disable VPN –
Try not to use a VPN, if possible. Now, if you happen to have a VPN enabled, disable it and then see if the error code continues to show up or not. If it does, try the next workaround.
Allow the game through the Firewall –
Firewalls might block internet access for the game at times, resulting in error codes like this. And the best way to deal with this is to simply allow the game through the Firewall. If you don’t know how to do that, follow the instructions below carefully:
- Open Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Firewall & Network Protection.
- Now, scroll down and select Allow the game through the firewall, and when a new window opens up, click on Change settings.
- Next, find the game in the list below and see if it shows up there. If not, click on Allow another app.
- Afterward, checkmark both the Private and Public options. End the process by clicking OK.
