Likewise, in Valorant, many are facing the ‘a critical error has occurred’ issue. This article is going to be looking at Valorant’s ‘a critical error has occurred’ issue and how to fix it.

Valorant 'a critical error has occurred': How to fix it

Many players are of the belief that Valorant is the best implementation of the hero system in FPS games. It is a simple game in its goals and objectives, plant a spike and defend it until it detonates. Diffuse the spike before it detonates or kill all opposing players before the spike is planted or diffused. If these criteria are met, you can win any Valorant round. The complexity of the game comes from the various abilities of characters and how they are best used.

Valorant ‘a critical error has occurred’: How to fix it?

A critical error in Valorant is an error that prevents the game from running further. This usually means that the game has crashed and will have to be restarted. It is a serious issue when you are in more competitive lobbies or when exiting a match as it will attract a penalty for you, the player. This error has been known to be commonly caused by various factors such as outdated graphics drivers, background software or insufficient permissions for the game to run on your system. Luckily, there are a couple of fixes to this issue.

The following listed below are some of the fixes to this error-

1). Update Graphics Drivers

Depending on which Graphics Card you are using, update the graphics drivers or roll them back to an older and more stable version. Doing this may stop this error from appearing since it could be caused by unsupported or outdated graphics drivers.

2). Turn off Background Software

Third-party FPS and other parameter trackers often use scripts to patch into a game and display the stats thereof. This is sometimes mistaken by the Anti-Cheat of these games as an attempt to cheat. This sometimes causes the game to crash. Turning off third-party tracking software might help with this issue.

3). Updating Windows.

Sometimes, an out-of-date system version can be the root cause of these errors in Valorant. Make sure to keep your system up to date and on the latest version in order to avoid such errors.

4). Run the game as Administrator.

Running the game as an Administrator can solve many issues. In order to do this,

  1. Right-click on the desktop shortcut of Valorant.
  2. Click on Properties and then click on Compatibility.
  3. Run the Compatibility Troubleshooter and select the option RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
  4. Relaunch the game and check if the error persists.

5). Disable GPU/ CPU Overclock.

Sometimes GPU and CPU overclock are not stable and many players have reported that reverting back to their default clock speeds has fixed the issue with Valorant.

6). Reinstall Valorant.

If none of these fixes works, it may be prudent to reinstall the game entirely and have it seek permissions again rather than trying to manually diagnose the problem. Many players have reported this as a viable and useable method of getting rid of these glitches.
