First, you will have to beat a boss, and second, to break iron ores we’re gonna recommend that you find yourself some sort of merciless weapon and armor. Now, let’s get you some Iron:

1. You’re gonna head on over to Quincey, The Bandit King. You’re gonna need some explosives to gain access to his base. You can get a recipe for explosives by beating Clive the Firestarter. So make sure you’ve beaten him before you take on Quincey.
2. After you beat Quincey and extract his blood, you’re gonna get several things. You will gain access to his moves. Additionally, you will also gain access to the Smithy.
3. The Smithy is where you will upgrade your copper gear to Iron weapons and Iron gear. Now, to get Iron you’re gonna need some iron ores. So, go out there and grab your merciless weapon, after you have farmed enough ores head back to your base.
4. Once you’re back, dump all your ores into the furnace and you will get iron ingots in return. Now, once you have these Iron Ingots, just head over to the smithy and you should be able to upgrade your heart to iron.

Keep in mind that you need to be at least level 35 before you decide to take on Quincey The Bandit King. And, as it stands for Clive The Firestarter, you need to be at least level 30. You will have an extremely hard time beating either of these bosses if you are below the recommended level.
