V Rising Dedicated Server Setup guide: How to do it –V Rising

  1. First and foremost, you have to go to Steam and go to your games library. Likewise, you have to find V Rising in your games library and go to the TOOLS section.
  2. Then, you have to double-click on the V Rising Dedicated Server to install. The process is similar to the installation of any other Steam game.
  3. Once the installation of the V Rising Dedicated Server is complete, you have to right-click on it. Then, you have to go to Manage and click on Browse Local Files.
  4. In the local files of the game, you have to go to Folder Options. Likewise, you have to enable hidden files as well as file extensions. Now, you have to click on start_server_example.bat and click on Edit.
  5. Once you have the start_server_example.bat open in a Notepad, you can start editing. You have to leave everything at the top as it is.
  6. You can then make changes to the last two lines. Likewise, you can edit “-persistentDataPath” to edit the save path and edit the “-saveName” to change the server name. Additionally, you can also edit the “VRisingServer.log”. In case you host multiple instances on the same computer, you can simply add 1,2, and so on to the end of the file name. You can now save it.
  7. After closing the file, you can run the bat file to generate files for your server for the first time. You can then see all the files for your server appear including log files, save files, etc.
  8. Now, you have to close the bat file and start changing the settings. In order to change the settings you have to run -persistentDataPath “folder path”. Likewise, you have to specify the folder path within the quotations. Settings, as well as Saves, go inside whatever folder is specified with -persistentDataPath. The default path for the settings is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRisingServer\.
  9. You have to then go to the VRisingDedicatedServer folder and go to VRisingServer_Data. Then, you have to go to the StreamingAssets folder and into the Settings folder. You have to copy all the files in the Settings folder to this folder path – %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRisingServer.
  10. Next, you can now edit the ServerHostSettings.json file and change your server name. Likewise, you have to remember the Port number as well as the QueryPort number. You can now make changes to the game by editing the ServerGameSettings.json file.
  11. Now, you have to rename the start_server_example.bat file so that it does not reset during updates. Then, you have to run the bat file.
  12. You have to either disable your Windows firewall or allow ports through your firewall. In order to do this, you have to type firewall in search and open up Windows Defender Firewall. Then, you have to go to inbound rules and click on new rules. You have to now click on Ports and select UDP. You can now type in the Port number as well as the QueryPort number from your ServerHostSettings.json file. After doing so, allow the connection and name it.
  13. Finally, you have to go to outbound rules on your Windows Defender and click on New Rules. Then, you have to click on Ports and select UDP. Likewise, type in the Port as well as the QueryPort number. Now, click on allow the connection, next, and name it. Do note that you need to have the bat file running to keep your server active.
