V Rising custom private server settings gone after update How to fix it

V Rising is the popular vampire survival game that is making waves right now, following its recent v1.0 release. In the game, you take the role of a vampire and set on a journey to rule the world of the living. The primary attraction of the game is its multiplayer elements. You can even create and customize your own private servers to play with friends. However, you must have noticed that, after the recent hotfix update on May 22, your custom private server settings in V Rising have disappeared. Obviously, this has caused frustration in the community, disrupting carefully configured game environments. So, how can you fix this? Well, that is exactly what we will be going over in this guide so stick till the end.

After you have updated V Rising to its latest version, you must have noticed all the carefully tweaked settings of your private servers are reset to default. The common thing across numerous player reports is that the issue is triggered after a recent hotfix update. This led to player servers being reset or wiped upon restart. Now, when logging in, they are prompted to create a new character, and their old bases and progress are missing. Even after creating a new character and restarting the server, they face the same issue repeatedly, with the server asking them to start over each time. Well, if you too are encountering the same, here’s everything you need to know.

V Rising custom private server settings gone after update: How to fix it?

Server settings gone? What happened? I opened my private server today and all custom settings are gone, I don't even remember all the things I was tweaking, why did this happen? And do these setting get saved anywhere so i can restore them?

Unfortunately, as of now, there is no official fix for this issue. However, we do have a few workarounds that have had success in fixing it for some players. While these solutions are not guaranteed to work for everyone, they are certainly worth a shot.

First Things First

Start by restarting the game and if that fails, restart your system as well. While doing this, also check your internet connection to make sure it’s functioning properly. Try rebooting your router, using a wired connection, or switching to a different network. And still, if none of this works, go ahead and try the other workarounds listed below.

Move old save file to the new directory

To fix the issue of your private server settings resetting after the latest patch, you can check if the patch reset the config file, which might have caused the server to start a new save file. To resolve this, locate the old save directory on your server. If there are two save directories, try moving the files from the old save directory into the new one. This should allow the server to recognize and use your old save file, restoring your previous progress and settings.

.json fix

Well, this isn’t a workaround per se, but it can help you stay clear of this issue in case it happens again. This method involves saving your custom server settings as a ruleset, which you can later reload in case of a reset. This can help ensure your settings are preserved even after updates. To do this, save your custom settings, and they will be stored in a specific location on your PC. You can find them here: “%UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Saves\<YOURSAVE>\ServerSettings.json”. Head over to this path and there you can access and back up your ServerSettings.json file. Later, if your settings get reset, you can simply restore this file to reapply your custom configurations!

Finally, while you try these workarounds, we recommend staying tuned to the official V Rising update pages. Keep an eye out for any announcements or updates from the developers that might provide a permanent fix for this issue.

Anyway, we hope these workarounds were helpful. And, before you leave, don’t forget to bookmark DigiStatement daily for more news and guides on all things gaming! Read more: Songs of Conquest Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, & Asus Rog Ally Support Details
