If you didn’t already know, Truck & Logistics Simulator is a Steam Deck-verified game. However, even if the game is verified on the Deck, it doesn’t mean that it will be free from issues. Well, the game crashing on Steam Deck has been a very frustrating experience for many, and despite this, the developers have not noticed the issue. However, crashes in Steam Dek can be fixed using simple workarounds. We have shared some of the most effective ones below:

Restart the Deck

A quick restart of the device can do wonders. It may sound naive, but this simple troubleshooting method is very effective. Further, it gets rid of all the temporary software-related issues. Hence, before trying any workarounds, do a simple restart of your Steam Deck.

Verify Game Files

Sometimes, game files could be corrupted or missing. Luckily, Steam can check if all the game files are proper. So, follow the steps below to verify the files:

  • First, open Steam on your Steam Deck.
  • Then, head over to the Library section and right-click on the game.
  • After that, select Properties.
  • Then go to the Installed Files tab.
  • Now, click Verify Integrity of Game Files.

Lower Graphics Settings

If you are encountering game crashes after running it for a while on your Deck, it can be due to high in-game Graphics settings. In such cases, it is recommended to lower the Graphics settings. So, when the game is running, pause it, select Options, and head over to the Graphics Options tab. Then, set the Graphics Quality to low or medium. After this, save the changes and restart the game. Now, the crashing issue should no longer exist.

Update the SteamOS

An outdated Steam OS can be the cause of game crashes. Well, bug fixes and optimizations are released with the system updates that can improve the overall stability of the system. This is why we recommend that you update your Deck’s OS and then try launching the game.

Update the Game

Now, the developers are actively addressing the issues and working to improve the game. So, there are frequent updates in the game, with bug fixes and optimizations. Verify that the game is running the latest version. You can head over to the Steam Library to check for updates.

Switch Proton Version

Steam Deck uses Proton as the compatibility layer to run the Windows game. Now, games have exhibited differences in performance on different Proton versions. So, you can switch the Proton Version to run the game to check which one gets rid of the crashing issue. Here’s how you can do so:

  • First, open Steam and head over to the Library.
  • After this, locate the game and select Options.
  • Then, select Properties.
  • After this, choose Compatibility.
  • Then, checkmark the Force Proton Use option.
  • Now, select the Proton version (Proton Experimental is preferable). You can also experiment with different versions and check which one works best.
  • Once done, launch the game and check if the issue persists.

Reinstall the Game

Lastly, the only option left is to uninstall and reinstall the game. A fresh installation can get rid of any issue that causes the game to crash on your Steam Deck.

Well, that’s all for the guide. Nevertheless, if the issue persists, make sure to contact the Steam Deck support team. Anyway, we hope that this guide was informative to you. For more such guides and updates, visit DigiStatement daily. Also read: How to play Rust on Steam Deck?
