The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is the latest title from German video game developer and publisher: Daedalic Entertainment. More famously known for producing point-and-click games, the studio entered into a partnership with the Tolkien Estate in 2019 to produce “games” based on The Lord of the Rings IP. Gollum is the result of that partnership. Well, in all honesty, TLotR: Gollum is disappointing, to put it mildly. Against it, even Redfall and Forspoken seem miles better. Critics and fans of the IP don’t seem to love this one, and they unanimously agree that choosing Gollum as the protagonist was a weird choice. There are optimization issues too. However, some people still want to give this game a try. Mostly out of curiosity, of course. Regardless, it’s always a good idea to know about basic stuff like save file locations and such if you want to try out a game like this.
One of the best advantages of playing games on a PC is that users can mess around with almost all the files related to a particular game. Trying to do this on a console is simply impossible. Some players on PC like to back up their in-game progress by accessing the save file location of the game, while for others, it can be a way to reset their progress entirely. So, where are the saved files of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum stored on your PC? Let’s find out!
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Save File Location: Where is it
To start, you need to open File Explorer on your PC. Next, navigate to the C: drive and open the Users folder. Here, you will see a few folders with different names. Double-click on the one with your username. Ignore all other files and folders in this directory except for the one labeled “AppData”.
In case you can’t find AppData, select the “View” option located in the top-left corner of the screen. In the “Show/hide” section, checkmark the “Hidden Items” option. The AppData folder will be visible now. After opening the AppData folder, you will see three more sub-folders, named: Local, LocalLow, and Roaming. Select the Local folder.
Here, there will be a number of folders. Some are related to games, apps, and such. You will also find a folder titled “Daedalic Entertainment GmbH”. Double-click on it to open the folder. Select the Gollum-named folder, and inside it, you will find another folder called “Saved”. Open it, and there will be three more folders. From the three, one will have numbers instead of a name, and the other two will be titled – Config and Logs respectively. Open the folder that has numbers written on it. In it will be the “SaveGames” folder, which includes the saved files of TLotR Gollum.
Now that you know the save file location of the game, you can choose to copy-paste it to another directory for backup or delete it entirely to start fresh. Anyway, for more guides on The Lord of the Rings: Gollum and gaming in general, don’t forget to bookmark DigiStatement.
