Into the Caves
As you progress through the game and cross the Great Sky Island, you will land in the main Hyrule area, where your adventure begins. Once you enter the main Hyrule area in Lookout Landing, navigate your way to the castle. Climb to the top of Hyrule Castle which is very conveniently situated near Lookout Landing.
Make your way to the north side of the wall in the castle. Here is where the shield is located, but it’s not that easy. Once you’re on the wall, climb down into the Hyrule Castle Docks area. You can also enter the area through the waters. As you stand on the edge of the dock, you need to drop down into a cave situated in a tricky place. Carefully make your way down, and as soon as you’re on your glider, move backward. You will be able to see the cave placed inside the walls.
Once you’re in the heart of the cave, light the huge torch you see in the middle. Immediately after you ignite the torch, the Hylian Shield appears in a box under the surface. Congratulations! Now you own one of the best shields in the game!
Buy the Shield
Even though the shield is highly durable, it will eventually break, and getting yourself a new one is quite adventurous. You can make your way to the Armor Shop in Hateno Village. You will be greeted by Cece, and since you’re buying the shield, it will cost you 3000 in-game currency. Meeting Cece will start your quest to obtain the shield. You will need to complete a total of 7 quests for Cece to sell you the shield.
