Bethesda’s Starfield has been going strong ever since its official launch on September 6, 2023. The game has already served over ten million players, and judging by the reception, this momentum isn’t going to slow down anytime soon. However, Starfield is not without its fair share of issues. Now, this guide in particular will discuss the various bugs found in the Showdown quest.
This particular faction quest has several bugs plaguing it. One bug makes it impossible to find the third Disciple in their hangouts, while another one makes the player unable to speak to Vogal Fuches because of a locked door. Then there’s the third bug, which makes Owen shoot the player at first sight. So, is there a fix for all these bugs in the quest? Let’s find out!
Starfield The Showdown Quest Bug: Is there any fix yet
For now, Starfield players will have to try the following workarounds, as an official fix is yet to be released. Check these out and hope that at least one of them fixes the bugs for you.
Sleep for three straight days –
This workaround is for fixing the Owen Dexler bug. As stated here, all players need to do is sleep for three days, and the issue will be fixed. While the workaround mentions the ship as the sleeping place, you can sleep at other places too. Also, when you arrive at the location where the quest takes place, try not to shoot anyone. If asked for a fine, pay it. For some players, staying 24 hours in orbit was all it took to solve the issue. So, in all honesty, try both.
Use neuroamp –
u/Dufenschmirtz got around the locked door bug by simply using the Neuroamp item from the Ryujin questline. Once you have the item with you, find Andreja and use the Neuroamp on her to unlock the door. If you don’t have the neuroamp, then the manipulation skill also works. This same method is suggested to fix a bug in The Audition quest, so there’s a high enough chance that it will work here too.
Get to the place where your ship is docked –
For players unable to find the last Disciple, go to the area where your ship is docked. That’s how u/Psycoustic found them. Do note that you might have to reload your current save a couple of times for the NPC to appear. If that didn’t work, you can always fast-travel to a different system and return to the quest area to check whether the issue persists.
Reload saves –
As evidenced by the previous workaround, reloading a previous save in this game is a really helpful tool. For all the bugs in this quest and other quests too, we always recommend that you reload your saves, as it might just be all you need to fix the various bugs. Moreover, use a save that’s closest to your current progress, as it makes backtracking easier.
Use console commands –
Xbox players can’t use this workaround as the console command is unavailable to them. As for PC players, know that using console commands will disable achievements for your current save. Anyway, to open the console command, press the tilde (~) key. Next, you can enter any of the following commands to bypass the various bugs:
- setstage 002250C4 2: This will take you to the next stage of The Showdown quest. (workaround suggested by u/Tommy64h9)
- CompleteQuest 002250C4: Entering this command will complete the entire quest.
- tcl: Players will be able to no clip. This is a very useful command to bypass the locked and inaccessible door.
These are all the workarounds we have for now. In case you encounter issues in other quests, like One Small Step, or Legacy’s End, we have also got guides for them.
