Developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, Starfield is the latest RPG title coming out on September 6, 2023. However, players can also get the Early Access edition of the game if they purchase the Premium Edition. If you’ve started exploring the game with the Premium Edition, then you’ve already had a taste of its beauty. As you partake in the battle between various factions, knowing how to take down your enemies becomes quite crucial. For this, the game offers different types of weapons and other items, but here we will primarily focus on the melee combat scene. Continue reading this article till the end to find out how to perform melee attacks in Starfield.

2023 has been a treat for fans of RPG titles, with different games being released in this popular genre. However, very few of these games focused on space exploration and galactic battles. Starfield draws its popularity from this particular theme. However, Starfield does involve one gameplay feature that’s common across all these action RPG titles: combat. As players delve deeper into the gameplay, knowing how to perform melee attacks can help their cause greatly. So with this in mind, let’s take a closer look at the melee attack system in the game and explore how you can use it to your own advantage.

How to Perform Melee Attacks in Starfield?

How to perform melee attacks in Starfield

Since battles make up a large part of the gaming experience in Starfield, it naturally takes a lot of ammunition to survive in the game. As a swarm of enemies approaches you, you will need to use all kinds of weapons and attacks to take them down. Where Starfield excels is in the fact that the game allows the players to fight their battles as they please. So, of course, you can use long-range guns and weapons to battle your enemies and take them down. However, it might take a lot of ammunition if you’re using your firearms all the time. Thus, the game allows players to use melee attacks to fight with enemies, especially when you’ve damaged their health enough. So how do you actually do it?

Well, performing a melee attack in Starfield isn’t really a tough job. In fact, you won’t even need special melee weapons for this action. Even while using guns and even when you’re unarmed, you can perform melee attacks. Whenever an enemy approaches you and comes within a specific range, you can press the R3 button on your controller to perform a melee hit. You can also press the LT button to block the attacks thrown at you by the enemy. If you’re using a keyboard, in that case, you can press the Alt key to perform a melee attack. With weapons in hand, you can use the RT button on your controller to hit a melee strike.

Melee skills in Starfield

There are certain skills listed in the combat tree that are essential to providing a better melee attack experience in Starfield. For example, the dueling skill from the combat tree can increase your melee damage and movement and provide healing with each strike. On the other hand, the Neurostrike skill from the physical skill tree will increase your chances of staggering enemies with a single shot. You can focus on improving these in-game skills to improve your melee battle prowess.

This is how you can perform melee attacks in Starfield. Hopefully, you enjoyed reading this article. For more such gaming-related content, keep visiting DigiStatement!
