Starfield is the next big game that Bethesda Softworks has planned for us, and the anticipation is on the next level right now. The company has managed to keep the game off the radar since its announcement about three years back.
But thanks to some known or unknown leaks by the company, we know have at least something to tell you. Yep, we are talking about the game locations and the factions we will see in this sci-fi RPG title slated to release on 11 November 2021 for PC and Xbox users.
Here are the confirmed factions, and some rumoured ones we will be seeing in Starfield –
CONSTELLATION (CONFIRMED)
Constellation is the main faction we have seen and known so far, and it is the primary one on which the marketing material of Starfield has revolved so far. We have already got some information related to Constellation so far, and the new leak image has given us an insight into the logo of the faction as seen on the player character’s spacesuit.
As per the reveal videos, this is going to be the faction that the players will join as a part of the main quest. What is the main quest? The main quest is about finding an answer to “life’s greatest mystery” and going on “humanity’s final journey”.
THE UNITED COLONIES (CONFIRMED)
We got our first glimpse of the United Colonies in the Starfield Location reveal videos. According to Bethesda’s design director Emil Pagliarulo, The United Colonies is the largest and the most powerful established military and political faction of the game. The location reveal videos mentioned that one of the game locations, New Atlantis, is the capital city of this faction.
In the background of the Into the Starfield video, around 57 seconds in, Pagliarulo can be seen writing what appears to be an email that will appear in the game. The fictional email is signed off by UC Fleet Admiral Pascual Logan, though whether or not that’s the highest office in the United Colonies is unknown – little has been revealed about the UC outside the document and the Starfield concept art of New Atlantis.
THE CRIMSON FLEET (RUMOURED)
The presence of this faction known as The Crimson Fleet is not officially confirmed by the developers of Starfield, but it is mentioned in the fictional Admiral login email we were talking about in the previous point. It appears to be a pirate faction that originally eyed the territory of the Freestar Collective, yet another major governmental faction set in the game.
The line in the document claiming that “Pirates of the Crimson Fleet have extended far beyond the Kryx system” suggests that the Kryx system may be their base of operations, though it may simply be an area where piracy has affected colonies to a large degree.
According to Admiral Logan, the Crimson Fleet should not be considered a faction at all since it is a loose party of single captains. The Crimson Fleet appears to be one of the main villainous factions in the game, though that might not be the possibility.
THE XENOFRESH CORPORATION (CONFIRMED)
As per the videos, The Xenofresh Corporation is the faction in charge of Neon, the “pleasure city” game location revealed already. It originally set up shop on the planet to build a fishing platform, before finding that the world’s psychotropic fish could make far more money bringing in tourism. For players always eager to make a few extra bucks or just get away from it all, the Xenofresh Corporation could be right up their alley.
THE FREESTAR COLLECTIVE (CONFIRMED)
The Freestar Collective is the second biggest faction from what we have seen so far in the videos. Its capital is Akila City, another revealed game location in Starfield with high walls and alien species.
The Freestar Collective appears to have split off from the UC for some unknown reasons and has accepted their frontier living and the Oshtas, the cross-breed (between a wolf and a velociraptor) alien species as the price for freedom.
It encompasses three star systems and seems to have the most difficulty with the Crimson Fleet.
This was everything we know about the factions present in the Starfield game. This might not be the final list as we might see some more being added. For that, follow Digi Statement as we will update you in the future.
