Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl Unable to Save Issue Is there any fix yet

While we do not have official fixes or acknowledgments, we do have tried and tested player-suggested fixes. In the absence of an official sure-shot fix, these player-suggested fixes are your best shot. We have discussed each one of them in detail below.

First things first

If you’re facing the “Unable to Save a Game” issue in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, try running the game as an administrator. Right-click on the Stalker2.exe file that can be found in the game’s installation directory, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and check the box for “Run this program as an administrator”. After making this change, select Ok, and then launch the game.

In Combat?

If you are running into the “Unable to Save a Game” issue in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the next thing to check is if you’re in combat. Some players have reported that the error occurs while actively engaged in combat, but saving works fine once the combat is over. This makes sense as well; being able to save in combat would quite literally be an exploit that could ruin the game. So, try finishing any ongoing battles, and once the area is clear, attempt to save again—this might resolve the issue.

Check Directories

If you’re unable to save in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, check if the “Stalker2” directory has been created in the %LOCALAPPDATA% folder. If the directory doesn’t exist, it could indicate that something on your PC, like antivirus software, an antimalware program, or a cleaning app, is preventing the game from creating a new folder for the game saves. Make sure such programs are disabled, and then try saving.

Read-Only Attribute

If you’re unable to save in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, chances are that the game save directory has been set as Read-Only. So, first, head over to the game’s save file location, right-click on the folder, select Properties, and under the General tab, uncheck the “Read-only” attribute, then click Apply. Afterward, boot up the game, adjust a few settings, apply them, and reboot the game. Check if these changes persist, as this can help resolve issues where the game isn’t saving due to permission restrictions.

Verify Game Files

On Steam, you can try verifying the integrity of the game files. This will check for any corrupt or missing files and replace them, which could resolve the issue. So, open up Steam, head to your games library, and here, right-click on Stalker 2. After that, select Installed Files, and then the Verify Integrity of Game Files option. Wait for the process to finish and then open up the game to see if that fixed the issue.

Reinstall the Game

And last, if nothing works out, you may need to reinstall the game. Uninstall Stalker 2 from your system, then reinstall it. This can help resolve any deeper issues with game files or settings that might be causing the same error.

Well, for now, those are all the effective workarounds we have for now. We hope one of these workarounds helped you save your in-game progress without any issues.
