Splitgate is a popular free-to-play multiplayer game, which started as a college project for the developers of 1047 Games. The first-person shooter game was also published by 1047 Games and came out as a BETA version for players on PC with Linux and Microsoft Windows via Steam back in 2019. The Xbox and PlayStation consoles got their version available from the 27th of July, 2021. Therefore, this includes the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, the PS4 and the PS5. Crossplay across various platforms is also available.
In the game, we can see a heavy influence of the popular combat game HALO. In their words, the game is where “Halo Meets Portal”. Splitgate is a Science Fiction combat, taking place in Battle Arenas, where players get to create wormhole portals between two points of the map. Through these portals, players can outsmart and outplay their opponents or flank them from behind. Along with this, players can also flee instantly from a dangerous position. The game has got a futuristic set of arenas, like:
- Oasis
- Lavawell
- Abyss
- Pantheon
- Olympus
- Highwind
- Club Silo
- Stadium
- Atlantis, and
- Helix.

Looking at the ever-increasing popularity of the multiplayer game, Splitgate is available as a BETA version on Steam. The BETA version is free to play and is available on Steam. The full version of the game is yet to come out since the developers at 1047 Games are working on the server. We can expect Splitgate to bring its full version in August 2021. If we look at the current trend, the full version of the game will be coming out via Steam. The game might be available for pre-order with early DLC content for people to look out for. For the console players, they can expect Splitgate to be available from the Console Store (like Xbox Store, PlayStation Store). The developers are yet to officially announce this but we can expect to see the full version of Splitgate, available for download via the Store and Steam.
