So, it has been some time since the release of the last update, update 7 for Satisfactory. This construction simulation game, although in early access, gets regular updates. And now, update 8 is going to go live. Well, since you clicked on this article, you might want to know what the new update brings to the game. Look no further because this article is all about Update 8 for Satisfactory and its details.
Before we go into the details of the update, let us recap what the previous update featured. To begin with, we saw blueprints, new peaceful and retaliating game modes, and Overclocking, which were some of the key highlights. And as usual, bug fixes and balance changes were also part of the update. But that’s old news since Update 7 was released all the way back in November of 2022 (Experimental branch) and was later ported to the early access branch in December 2022. Naturally, players are more excited to learn about the contents of the next update. If you are among them, consider reading until the end.

Update 8 Release Date
Well, Update 8 for Satisfactory is scheduled to drop on June 13 at 3 p.m. GMT, and players can’t wait to get their hands on it. Keep in mind that it is an Experimental branch release, and bugs and other errors are expected at this point. Since the experimental branch of Update 8 is about to go live, you might wonder when it will be available in the general Early Access branch. Well, as of now, we don’t really have an exact release date for the same, but judging from past update releases, Update 8 might be released for the general Early Access branch in July 2023 (almost a month after its release in the Experimental branch). Do note that this is just speculation from our side, so take it with a pinch of salt. Anyway, with that out of the way, take a look at some of the key additions featured in Update 8.
Update 8 New Content
- New Game Modes: Update 8 introduces new game mode options that can be enabled through the Advanced Game Settings tab. These include Flight mode, which allows double jumping, Sprint mode (not as fast as using the pack utility mod or fly mod), God mode (makes you invulnerable to damage within map borders), the anticipated Creative Build mode, and a Give Items option that allows you to get items for free.
- No Unlock Cost: The update removes the unlock cost for researchable items such as alternate recipes. However, you still need to have the necessary resources and buildables unlocked to use the recipes.
- No Power Mode: In this mode, fuel is not consumed but power is produced. Power storage will continue to charge as if online.
- Starting Tiers: Players will have the option to skip the Biomass tier when starting a new save. You can choose which tier to start with and spawn with resources at that tier level. This is a very interesting addition to the game. You can also set the Space Elevator Phase, Unlock All Tiers, All Resources in M.A.M., and also unlock all Awesome Shop Unlockables.
- Death Options: Players can choose to lose everything, lose only resources (keeping equipment), or keep the entire inventory when they die.
- No Arachnid Creatures Mode: This mode removes all Stingers from the game, making it more accessible for players who prefer a peaceful experience. To access this option, head to the Advanced Game Settings tab, and make sure the Disable Arachnid Creatures option is checked.
- Unreal Engine 5: The update brings the implementation of Unreal Engine 5, which introduces improvements such as Lumen (Dynamic Global Illumination and Reflection system), Nanite for the optimized rendering of terrain, and Chaos Physics for vehicles. A new world partition system is also introduced with the implementation of UE5.
- World Changes: Various areas in the game world, including the Titan Forest, Pink Forest, Dune Valley, Bamboo Forest, Red Jungle, and Rocky Desert, have been revamped and updated. Caves have also been updated, and new creatures like the Nuclear Hog and Cliffhog variants can be found.
- Quality of Life Improvements: Blueprints have been enhanced, making them easier to place and delete. Filters for deletion have been improved allowing you to delete multiple items at once, while pipelines and conveyors can now be placed with their supports. Equipment, such as parachutes and zip lines, have also been improved. Fart Rocks can now be destroyed, and Jet Packs can use a total of 4 different fuels to operate.
- New Buildables: Three new power-related buildables are introduced: Priority Power Switch, Power Tower, and Power Tower with Walkway. These allow for better power management and control.
Now one key thing to note is, the devs have recommended taking a backup of your saved files before you move on to the experimental branch of Update 8. This will come in handy if for some reason you do not like the contents of Update 8 or if you find the update riddled with bugs. You can find the saved files of the game in the following directory of your PC:
- C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME Folder]\AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames
