Rust has been around for quite some time and has been giving players an intense and unforgiving survival experience. Now, coming straight to the point, in this game, you will have to gather resources, build shelters, and defend yourself from both the environment and other players. As you progress, you’ll want to improve your weapons to stand a better chance in battles. One way to do this is by equipping attachments to your weapons, giving you an edge in combat. But how can you do so? Well, that is what this guide is all about.
On August 1, a regular update was rolled out for Rust, bringing a host of changes to the game. Whether it’s tweaking gameplay mechanics or adding new content, these updates keep the experience fresh and challenging. But no matter what’s new, one thing remains constant: the need to survive. A key part of that survival is making sure your weapons are as powerful as possible. Therefore, coming back to the main topic, here is how to equip the attachments you come across in Rust, helping you maximize your arsenal’s firepower.
Rust: How to equip attachments to weapons
How to equip attachments?
Obtain the attachments:
The first step is to get your hands on some attachments for your weapons. For this, you will need to craft them, and to do so, you will first have to find the blueprints for the attachments you want to craft. Gather the necessary materials, such as metal fragments, high-quality metal, and tech trash. Attachments can also be found in loot crates, barrels, or as rewards from airdrops and NPCs. Some of the common attachments in Rust include Flashlight, Holo Sight, 4x Zoom Scope, Silencer, Muzzle Brake, Laser Sight, Simple Handmade Sight, etc.
Attaching the Attachment to Your Weapon:
After you have the attachment, open your inventory. Drag the weapon you want to modify into one of the slots at the bottom of your inventory. After this, drag the attachment from your inventory and drop it into the appropriate slot on the weapon. Some weapons have multiple slots for attachments, including sights, barrels, and under-barrel attachments. For example, an assault rifle might have slots for a sight, a barrel attachment, and an under-barrel attachment. With the attachment in place, you can equip the weapon with the attachment in one of your hotbar slots. Select the weapon by pressing the corresponding number key on your keyboard.
Attachment Variety
While there are many attachments and we cannot cover the use case for each single one, here are some of the most common attachments and the ways to use them
- Sights and Scopes: Aim down sights by holding the right mouse button (RMB). If you have a scope, you can zoom in further by holding the RMB.
- Flashlight: Press F to toggle the flashlight on and off.
- Laser Sight: Press F to toggle the laser sight on and off.
- Silencer, Muzzle Brake: These attachments are passive and automatically provide their benefits when equipped.
