Out of the many classic MMORPG titles still running right now, RuneScape continues to thrive immensely. In fact, both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape make a large part of Jagex’s revenue, as evidenced by the company’s 2021 annual reports. Now, with 2024 right on the horizon, expectations for RuneScape and OSRS are once again high. Speaking of OSRS, its launch in 2013 proved a very successful endeavor for Jagex, as it quickly went on to become more popular than the regular RuneScape. And RuneLite has also played quite a big part in that. However, it seems like RuneLite has an issue in Windows 11 where it doesn’t switch to fullscreen.
OSRS stays true to its name. Even to this day, the game doesn’t have a direct full-screen option. Well, except for the Steam version of OSRS. This is one of the many reasons why a lot of players recommend and use RuneLite. However, for whatever reason, players are unable to play OSRS in fullscreen on Windows 11 using RuneLite. So, is there a fix for this? Well, continue reading to find out more details on the same.
Runelite Not full-screen on Windows 11: How to fix it
Since there’s no official fix for this one, you will need to make do with the following workarounds. So, try these and check if any of them are of use to you.
Set to Modern/Classic Layout –
The way to set OSRS in fullscreen is by doing it in Runescape. So, open Settings and then switch to Display Settings. At the bottom, you will see the Game Client Layout option. Click on the drop-down menu and select Resizable—Modern layout. You can also use the Resizable-Classic layout option if you like that one.
Use the Stretched Mode plugin –
The Stretch Mode plugin also helps with this issue. Just type in Stretched Mode in the search bar and enable the plugin. Make sure you have favorited it so that you can easily change settings. If you want, you can also mess around with the Resizable Scaling option for some visual fidelity. Also, Stretched Mode is great if you prefer using the Fixed layout option.
Select the Maximize window option –
Players should make sure that they have switched to the Maximize window option. It’s located right next to the close button (X) at the top right corner, so you will not have much trouble identifying it.
Switch to the Steam version –
You can also try switching to the Steam version and using that to play OSRS in full screen. Do know that this is more of an alternative than a full-blown fix. So, if you are comfortable with that, use this method.
Reinstall –
In case none of the aforementioned workarounds are of help, you can try reinstalling Runelite. While there are chances that this might not work, we still recommend you give this method a try and see if it helps.
