2023 was a particularly great year for video games. We got to enjoy great titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, Armored Core VI, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and so many more. And among all these great titles, there was also RyseUp Studios’ Roboquest v1.0. Available for PC and Xbox, the game was released to positive reviews, with high praise going towards its well-developed controls, movement, and fast-paced combat. But the game’s not without its fair share of issues. A lot of players have been complaining about facing a fatal error issue, and that’s something this guide will help you with.
An issue like this could be due to a myriad of reasons. Sometimes the cause might be your saved files, while for others, the issue seems to be because of the game not having admin access. Regardless of the cause, this needs to be resolved. So, without much further ado, let’s go ahead and find out how you can fix this.
Roboquest Fatal Error issue: How to fix it?
Uninstall Sonic Studio 3 –
A tried-and-tested fix for this issue happens to be simply uninstalling Sonic Studio 3. So, if you have Asus’s Sonic Studio 3 application installed on your PC, uninstall it. After that, reboot your PC as mentioned, and then launch the game. However, if you don’t have Sonic Studio 3 installed in the first place, switch to the next workaround.
Delete your saved games –
There are two “fixes” recommended by the developers. This is the first one. In this case, basically, you need to head to this file path first: C:/Users/[YourUsernameFolder]/AppData/Local/Roboquest/SavedGames. Inside, you will find your saved files. Delete each one and then start the game.
Delete Splash Screens –
The second developer-recommended “fix” for this issue is to simply delete Splash Screens. Now, if you don’t know where it’s located, just head to the file path mentioned below: “Steam\steamapps\common\RoboQuest\RoboQuest\Content\Movies”. Inside, find these three files: Bumper_RYSEUP.mp4, RQBumper.mp4, and INTRO_VLC.mp4. Once found, delete all three, and then launch RoboQuest.
Run the game as an administrator –
For some players, the issue was resolved after running the game as an administrator. So, if you haven’t tried this method before, we recommend you do so. If you don’t know how to do this, just follow the instructions below:
- Right-click on either the game’s .exe or shortcut and select Properties.
- Next, switch to the Compatibility tab.
- Now, checkmark the Run this program as an administrator option.
- End the process by clicking Apply and OK.
Get the game on your Steam Deck –
This one in particular is somewhat of a strange workaround but it does seem to work. However, you will need a Steam Deck for this. If you do happen to have access to a Steam Deck, download the game and play it there for a while. This will overwrite your cloud saves. After playing on the Deck for some time, launch the game on your PC and see if the issue persists.
Update –
Issues like this can also arise when a game is running on an outdated version. So, what we suggest you do is check if there’s an update available. If there’s one, download and install the update.
Reinstall –
If none of the aforementioned workarounds are of help, we highly recommend that you reinstall the game. Reinstalling does tend to work at times, so give it a try and see if it helps.
Well, these are all the workarounds you can try. Additionally, here’s some info on what’s coming in 2024 for Roboquest. And for more such content, keep following DigiStatement. Also read: Roboquest multiplayer not working: How to fix it?
