Team Ninja, the studio more popularly known for developing the Dead or Alive and Nioh series, is gearing up for the release of their next highly anticipated title, Rise of the Ronin. Originally announced back in September 2022’s PlayStation Showcase, Rise of the Ronin is an open-world action RPG title where you will take on the role of a Ronin. Considering the previous two Team Ninja games—Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin—were pretty good action-RPG games, fans are more than hyped for the release of Rise of the Ronin. However, many also want to know whether the game will be supported on the Steam Deck, Legion Go, and the Asus Rog Ally.
Team Ninja has been on a roll lately. With recent releases like Nioh 2, Stranger of Paradise, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the studio has shown that they can develop good action RPG games. From what the trailers have shown so far, Rise of the Ronin looks and feels incredibly good, only adding to more hype from players all around the world. But will it be playable on the Steam Deck, Legion Go, and Rog Ally? Well, continue reading to find out!
Rise of the Ronin Steam Deck, Legion Go & Asus Rog Ally Support details
This is going to come out as a bummer but unfortunately, Rise of the Ronin will not be playable on any of the PC handhelds at release. Team Ninja’s upcoming action RPG is a PlayStation 5 exclusive title and as such, it will not see any release on other platforms. While certainly disappointing for fans of Team Ninja games, there’s nothing else we can do except wait or play it on the PS5.
Were it to arrive on the Nintendo Switch, players could have used an emulator like Yuzu or Ryujinx to play it but alas, that’s not the case here. The current scene for PlayStation 5 emulation is non-existent, so all hope is lost for that one too. Furthermore, even if the game were to be released on PS4, which it isn’t going to, in case you didn’t know, it still wouldn’t matter since the PS4 emulation scene is still a good many years behind on emulating 3D titles.
The only hope that’s left for players is to simply wait until Sony decides to port the game to PC. Many previous Team Ninja titles were multiplatform so we can hope that Sony eventually greenlights a PC port for this game as well. However, if even that were to happen, players would have to wait for some years. So, if you are planning to enjoy Rise of the Ronin on your PC handheld, better enjoy some other games and play RotR on the PS5 itself if you are not big on the waiting game.
