Remnant 2 Red Door Portal Explained

Officially released on July 25, 2023, Remnant 2 is the long-awaited sequel to 2019’s Remnant: From the Ashes. Developed by Gunfire Games, the sequel has received great praise from both critics and fans alike. Released for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, the game has been enjoying a significant player base, as evidenced by its 24-hour peak of 82,872 players (*according to SteamDB) at the time of publishing this guide. While the game has certainly been fun for many, there’s one thing that has been making the community scratch their heads in frustration: The Red Door/Portal.

Like Remnant: From the Ashes, the sequel has a lot of puzzles and secrets. Some even border on being quite impossible to solve. And this Red Door is the biggest example of that. So, here’s everything you need to know about it.

Remnant 2 Red Door Portal Explained

Note: The content of this guide is WIP. We are yet to get complete information on the matter. However, once we do get the details, we will update our guide accordingly.

In case you were unaware, the Red Door Portal, as the name itself suggests, is a giant door found in the Labyrinth. But unlike the other doors in Labyrinth, no one has been able to unlock this one. There have been numerous efforts made by the players to unlock the Red Door, but no one has been able to.

How to locate it?

As said earlier, the Red Door is located in The Labyrinth. Now, compared to other worlds in Remnant 2, the Labyrinth is a fixed location, and as such, everything from the usual layout and objectives will remain the same throughout your playthrough. To reach the Red Door, you will need to find the portal, which changes locations occasionally. Go into it, and you will start falling into the abyss, but don’t worry about dying. Eventually, your fall will be interrupted by a bridge taking you to the red door.

What’s behind the Red Door?

So far, the consensus is that the Red Door is hiding the Archon archetype. For the uninitiated, archetypes are akin to classes in this typical souls-like game. There are various obtainable archetypes in the game, including the Archon archetype. And since it hasn’t been acquired by anyone, players believe it can only be obtained after opening the Red Door.

Ways to open the Red Door?

No one has been able to open the Red Door in Remnant 2, and people are still searching for ways to open it. That said, all we can give you are some hints. Many have speculated that opening the Red Door requires you to get the Master Portal Key and have the “corrupted” status. Players will be able to unlock the Master Portal Key by participating in the Energy Event.

Corruption, on the other hand, is quite tricky. Players have tried several ways to satisfy the corruption status, like turning N’Erud corrupted or using the defrag weapon mod, but so far none of these have been able to unlock it. Others are suggesting killing aberrations. However, that too has resulted in nothing. There are lots of theories and workarounds, but we are still waiting for someone to verify which workaround actually works.

If we get more details on this matter, we will update this article accordingly at the earliest. Until then, you can check out DigiStatement for more guides on Remnant 2. Also, read: Remnant 2 Blood Bond Trait: How to Get?
