Remnant 2, the latest title from Gunfire Games, has turned out to be a massive hit for the Austin, Texas-based video game development studio. Released on July 25, 2023, for Windows and current-gen consoles, i.e., PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game quickly became a fan favorite, as evidenced by the one million copies sold in its first week alone. It’s safe to say that Remnant 2 is a great sequel. Something that not a lot of game sequels are able to achieve. One of the things that makes Remnant 2 great is the Archetypes it offers to the players. The sheer amount of build variety these Archetypes offer is mind-blowing, to say the least. And the Archon is one of these Archetypes that you can get.
Compared to other Archetypes in the game, the Archon archetype can be pretty hard to obtain. In fact, it had the community scrambling for hints some days ago due to the enigma that was the Red Door. But the community did manage to open the Red Door and finally get the Archon archetype. So, how do you unlock it? Let’s find out!
Remnant 2 Archon Archetype: How to get & unlock
Unlocking the Archon Archetype in Remnant 2 isn’t an easy task, as players will need to equip some hyper-specific items. Following are the items and equipment you should get and equip:
- Full Realmwalker armor set (Explorer Armor)
- Void Heart Relic
- Ford’s Scattergun
- Labyrinth Staff
- Cube Gun
- Rings – Zania’s Malice, Anastasija’s Inspiration, Black Cat Band, and Amber Moonstone
- Leto’s Amulet (Sold by Reggie after you do 100 flops)
- Worm Hole (Level 5 Invader Skill)
- Fortune Hunter (Level 10 Explorer Skill)
After equipping the aforementioned items here, your player character will be surrounded by the corruption aura. Now, all you need to do is go near the Red Door and open it using the Biome Portal Key.
Once the Red Door is open, you will be allowed a maximum of one and a half minutes to explore the room inside, i.e., the Backrooms. Don’t worry, you can always come inside another time to get all the stuff hidden in there. Players will be able to get three items in total:
- Strange Box
- Bisected Ring
- Gunfire Security Lanyard
After securing all three items, head to Ward 13 and meet with Wallace there. Give him the Strange Box so that he can craft the Hexahedron engram which will unlock the Archon archetype. Furthermore, the Bisected Ring as the name suggests is a ring that when equipped grants infinite stamina to the player while also increasing incoming damage by 25%. The Gunfire Games Lanyard on the other hand is an amulet and allows your guns to automatically reload over time.
Completing the full loadout:
Realmwalker Armor Set –
There are two ways to get the Realmwalker armor set. The first is to simply purchase it from Whispers in Ward 13. But you will have to complete the campaign first. The second option is to create a new character with the Explorer archetype. The Realmwalker set happens to be the starting armor for this archetype, so you wouldn’t have any trouble getting it. In case you are just starting Remnant 2, you can begin your playthrough as the Explorer.
Void Heart –
The Void Heart relic is located in the Alepsis-Taura location in N’Erud. Complete the main quest, Seeker’s Keys in N’Erud and activate the console near the final boss without using the Override Pin. Defeat the boss, then travel and speak to the Custodian at the Ascension Spire. Wait for a full 24 hours (real-world hours, not in-game hours), and Alepsis-Taura will now be accessible via fast travel. Head there, and you will see the Void Heart relic floating in the distance.
Ford’s Scattergun –
Go to The Red Throne on Yaesha. Once you are there, head straight for the throne room and speak to the Eternal Empress. Choose every cooperative interaction/deferential dialogue when speaking to the Eternal Empress. Finish the interaction by choosing this option: – Kill the Beast. What could be easier?
Defeat the final boss of this biome and then return to the throne room. Don’t give anything to the Eternal Empress, and she will reward you with the Seal of the Empress ring. Equip it and go to the library located there. Once you are there, a secret door will open on the floor, revealing a small room. Inside, you will find Ford’s Scattergun.
Labyrinth’s staff –
Travel to Fractured Ingress at the Labyrinth and go to the portal there. However, instead of going through it, you will need to make your way to the path on the left. After a while, you will find a staircase. Go there and jump down to the platform below. Once you have landed, keep walking straight, and you will come across a hole in the ground. Wait for a platform to fill the gap. Cross it as fast as you can and follow the path to a new arena. Defeat the boss named Bastion in there and get the Labyrinth staff from the far side of the arena.
Cube Gun –
The Cube Gun is arguably one of the easier items to get in here. Why? Because getting it is pretty straightforward. All you need to do is defeat the Labyrinth Sentinel boss in Labyrinth. After that’s done, go to Ava McCabe in Ward 13 and hand her over the Conflux Prism you got from killing the boss, and she will craft the Cube Gun for you.
Rings
- Amber Moonstone: Sold by Cass at Ward 13. Her stock varies from time to time, so if you don’t find the Amber Moonstone on your first try, keep coming back until it appears in her inventory.
- Black Cat Band: Sold by Reggie only after you die a total of fifteen or more times.
- Anastasija’s Inspiration: Sold by Whispers in Ward 13 once you have finished the campaign.
- Zania’s Malice: Found at Root Earth in the Ashen Wasteland area. Go to the first mini-checkpoint there and keep walking until you find a downward ramp. You will find the ring in a small room, located on the wall behind the ramp. There’s a small opening there. Crouch through it and get Zania’s Malice.
Leto’s Amulet –
Can be purchased from Reggie after belly-flopping at least 100 times. Do note that you need to wear ultra-heavy armor while you perform these belly flops. You can do so by equipping the Leto’s Mark II Armor set.
