Disable anti-virus protection

If you’re using a third-party anti-virus program, then it can trigger the Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart game progress not saving issue. To fix this, you can either disable the real-time protection option of your Antivirus program or add the Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart game’s .exe file to the exclusion list. If you want to troubleshoot the error while also protecting your system from virus threats, the second choice is your best bet.

Allow the app through Windows Firewall

Your Windows Firewall can trigger this error as well, but you can deal with it using the following steps –

  • Press the Windows + I keys together to open the Windows Settings and go to Privacy & Security. For Windows 10 users, this option will be named: Update & Security.
  • Click on Windows Security and then go to Virus and Threat Protection.
  • Scroll down, and click on the “Manage ransomware protection” option.
  • Enable “Controlled folder access” and then click on “Allow an app through Controlled folder access”.
  • Click on Yes to allow, and then click on “Add an allowed app”. Select “Browse all apps”.
  • Locate the executable file for Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart and select it.
  • Once the file is added here, type Control Panel in the Windows search box and open the first option.
  • Click on System & Security and open Windows Defender Firewall.
  • Now, click on the “Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall” option.
  • Click on “Change settings” and then select the “Allow another app…” option.
  • Locate and select the executable file for Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, and click on OK.
  • Now, simply launch the game and see if it has solved the error.

If your system is running Google Drive or OneDrive in the background, then you need to close them. For some reason, the issue with the game progress not saving might be occurring due to these applications running in the background. Close the apps, launch the game, and see if the issue persists.

Change Windows username

If your Windows username has any special characters, you might not be able to save your in-game progress. While the reason behind this is unknown, you can solve the error by changing your username or creating a new one for the account.

Verify the integrity of game files

You can also try verifying the integrity of your game files to see if it fixes the issue.

  • Open Steam and go to your Library.
  • Find Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart from the list of installed games and right-click on it.
