If you have purchased R.E.P.O. to have hardcore fun with your friends, the last thing you’d want is to encounter issues that hinder your access to the game. Modern games are almost always filled with some issue or another, and R.E.P.O. is no exception. Some players have reported encountering infinite loading screen issues in the game. So, if you have faced the same error, this is just the guide you need. Here’s everything you need to know about fixing the infinite loading screen issue in R.E.P.O.
Such issues are pretty common in games, but the fact that this exists in R.E.P.O. is a bit surprising. Given that this co-op survival horror is pretty light on system specifications and is almost bug-free, the infinite loading screen is the least expected issue. However, this does exist in the game, and for now, there is no official workaround. So, you will have to rely on some potential workarounds that have been effective in fixing this issue in other games.

Restart
First, consider restarting your PC if you are unable to load into the game. After a restart, launch the game to check whether the issue persists. If it does, try the next fix.
DirectX Launch Options
It is possible that the DirectX version in use is causing this infinite loading screen. So, switching things up might fix this problem. For this, go to Steam and select Library. Now, right-click on R.E.P.O. and select Properties. In the General tab, add the following command in the Launch Options Textbox: “-dx11” or “-dx12”. After this, launch the game.
Check network connection
If the infinite loading screen issue occurs whenever you are trying to join a multiplayer lobby, then it might be due to the internet connection you are using. So, check its stability by visiting any speed check website. If the connection is unstable or has low speed, then consider switching to a different network and then launching the game.
Run as Admin
For this workaround, you’ll need to access the game’s installation directory. How? Go to Steam>Library>R.E.P.O. Here, right-click on the game and then select Manage>Browse Local Files. In the game’s installation directory, find the .exe file of the game and then right-click on it. Next, select Run as Admin. Once done, this will launch the game, hopefully getting rid of the issue.
Antivirus/Firewall
It is also possible that the game is getting blocked by your antivirus or firewall program after being flagged as a threat. In that case, there are two things you can do. You can temporarily disable the antivirus or firewall program and then launch the game. Or you can add the game’s .exe file to the exceptions list of both these programs. In either case, the issue should no longer persist, provided these programs were the cause of it.
Recreate lobby
If the loading screen issue starts after you have played a level in the multiplayer mode, then consider recreating or rejoining the lobby. It is most likely a network-related issue that is causing this, so rejoining or recreating the lobby should be effective.
Adjust in-game Settings
If the game opens when you launch it and the infinite loading screen issue occurs only when you try loading into a level, then it is possible that the in-game settings are the reason behind this. So, head over to the game’s settings menu, select the Graphics tab, and lower all graphics-intensive settings. Set everything to Low and then check whether the issue persists.
Delete Save
Your current save file might also be the reason why the issue is occurring. In case the save gets corrupted, then selecting it can lead to the infinite loading screen issue since the game will not be able to read it. In that case, all you can do is delete the save and start from scratch. Yes, this means all your progress will be lost, but maybe this is all that’s needed to get rid of the infinite loading screen. Do note that you should try this workaround at the very end if none of the workarounds have been of any help. In addition to this, before deleting the save, you should keep a backup of it. Run game on dedicated GPU
You must also ensure that the game is running on your system’s dedicated GPU for the best performance. For this, go to Windows Settings, and search for Graphics Settings. In this menu, select the Browse option and then add the game’s .exe to the list. Once added, select it, choose Options, and then click on High Performance. This will force the game to run on your system’s dedicated GPU, hopefully fixing the issue.
Update GPU Drivers
Outdated drivers can also be the reason why you are encountering infinite loading screen issues in R.E.P.O. So, visit the official Nvidia/AMD website and download the latest drivers for your particular GPU model. After this, install the update and then restart your PC. Now, launch the game to check whether the issue persists.
Overclocking applications
Make sure to also disable any overclocking applications in use. Restore the clock speed of your CPU/GPU to their default values and then check whether the issue persists.
Reinstall
Finally, if none of these workarounds have been of any help, consider reinstalling the game. While installing it again, consider doing so on a different drive (preferably on an SSD) for the best results.
For now, these are the workarounds that we recommend you try to fix the infinite loading screen issue in R.E.P.O. If you find this guide informative, then don’t forget that we bring you the latest guides on all things gaming on a daily basis. So, consider visiting DigiStatement regularly.
