Hoothoot in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)

The Pokemon franchise has inspired quite a large number of games across different platforms for fans. If you’re a Nintendo player who wants to play Pokemon games, you can always try Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). These are the latest ninth-generation Pokemon games, released for Nintendo Switch players in 2022. Currently, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet feature over 100 Pokemon that players can capture and train. However, different Pokemon have different habitats and characteristics, and catching them requires high precision and sheer luck. Well, in the latest Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon SV, the developers have added the popular owl Pokemon called Hoothoot from Generation 2. In this article, we have shared details on how to catch Hoothoot in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). So, continue reading to find out.

The Teal Mask DLC is the first part of the storyline titled “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero“, and it came out on September 13, 2023. With this new DLC being released, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet oversaw the introduction of several Pokemon (both new and returning) and new characters. Hoothoot is an owl-type Pokemon that is introduced in the game through this new DLC pack. Besides Hoothoot, you can also get your hands on the evolved version of Hoothoot, Noctowl. Or, even better, you can try and evolve the Pokemon yourself if you want to do so. However, since the update is relatively new, not all the players have figured out how to catch Hoothoot in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). So, without further ado, let’s take a closer look at how you can catch and evolve this Pokemon in the game.

How to Catch Hoothoot in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)?

Hoothoot in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV)

Before you try to catch a Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV), you have to understand exactly where you can locate the creature. Every Pokemon in the game has a unique spawn location, and you need to be in that location if you’re to catch them. The Teal Mask DLC has introduced a brand new Pokedex, with almost 200 different Pokemon up for grabs. Of these Pokemon, Hoothoot is one such new entry in the long list of Pokemon that Pokemon SV offers. So, how exactly can you catch this Pokemon in the game?

Well, of course, since Hoothoot is a new addition to the Pokedex that was introduced in the Teal Mask DLC, you will only find it in the DLC region called Kitakami. Being a flying Pokemon, you can look for it in the trees found there. It basically spawns in almost all parts of the region. If you have experience catching other Pokemon that reside on trees, then it shouldn’t be a tough task for you. Simply aim your Pokeball at the Hoothoot using the ZL button and throw it using the ZR button on your console. There’s one thing that you have to remember, though. Hoothoot is a nocturnal Pokemon, so make sure you are looking for it only at night.

How to evolve Hoothoot?

Well, once you capture a Hoothoot, you can focus on evolving it into a Noctowl. This is pretty easy. All you have to do is use your Hoothoot in battles to increase it to level 20. Otherwise, you can feed it the Exp. candy and make it evolve. Doing so will transform your Hoothoot into a Noctowl. If you don’t want to go the evolution route, you can also find Noctowl in the various areas of the Kitakami region, but its spawn rate is lower than Hoothoot’s.

Well, this is all that you need to know about how to catch Hoothoot in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (SV). Keep visiting DigiStatement if you find this guide insightful and want to read more such gaming-related content.
