Planet Coaster 2 VR Support: Will it be available

Planet Coaster 2 VR Support Will it be available

Planet Coaster 2 is the latest sequel in the acclaimed Planet Coaster series, bringing back the thrill of theme park simulation with a host of new features and improved visuals. Since the release of the original game, Planet Coaster, technology and gaming have come a long way. Fans of the series have been waiting to see what new experiences this sequel will offer, and some are especially curious about the potential for VR support. If you’re among those hoping to design and experience rides in virtual reality, you’re probably wondering: will Planet Coaster 2 support VR? Let’s dive into what we know so far.

Since Planet Coaster 2’s announcement, players have been asking, “Will this have VR support?” Many feel that the lack of VR in the original Planet Coaster was a missed opportunity, especially for a game centered around immersive park design and ride experiences. Some fans even say that VR support is a deal-breaker, impacting their decision to buy the game. They argue that VR could bring an unparalleled level of immersion, allowing players to not only design roller coasters but experience them firsthand. Such a feature could make Planet Coaster 2 a standout experience in the simulation genre.

Planet Coaster 2 VR Support: Will it be available

Unfortunately, as of now, Planet Coaster 2 does not support VR, and the developers at Frontier Developments have not released any statement indicating plans to add VR support in the future. This lack of VR functionality isn’t entirely surprising, as the original Planet Coaster also lacked VR support. While there have been a few notable exceptions in the simulation genre that embrace VR, it’s still relatively rare, and Frontier doesn’t appear to have included VR as a priority for this release. So, for players hoping for a VR mode, the current answer is a disappointing “no.”

Will it be available later? (Speculations)

Looking ahead, it seems unlikely that VR support will come to Planet Coaster 2 anytime soon. One major factor is the relatively small VR user base. The most recent Steam Hardware Survey puts VR headset ownership at just under 2% of all users. With such a limited audience, the development costs required to implement VR are difficult to justify. Developers need a sizable return on investment to make VR support worthwhile, and for most game studios, the demand for VR isn’t yet high enough. This is why even some games that would benefit from VR don’t include it—it’s simply not practical from a business perspective. Unless Frontier decides that there’s a large enough market for VR functionality, the chances of seeing a VR mode in Planet Coaster 2 remain slim. Of course, there’s always a possibility that someone at Frontier could add VR support as a side project or that future expansions or updates might incorporate VR if demand is high enough. However, without an indication from Frontier that VR support is in their plans, it’s best to keep expectations low. Until VR becomes more mainstream, simulation games like Planet Coaster 2 are unlikely to embrace the technology on a large scale.

We hope this clears up any questions you might have had about VR support in Planet Coaster 2.
