Singularity 6 Corporation’s cozy-sim MMO, Palia, is currently in the middle of its first major in-game event called Maji Market. The developers have included a ton of rewards for players along with some pretty interesting event-specific quests. Thanks to it, Palia is getting a lot of attention from both MMO fans and cozy/farm-sim fans. And with so many newbies trying the game out, we thought it would be better to make some helpful guides for them. So, this guide is all about getting the Spotted Mantis in Palia. If you are looking for this bug in the game, consider reading until the end.
Aside from fishing and gardening, bug-catching is another major skill in the game. It is quite odd since most farm sims don’t really feature it as one of the main skills that players can focus on. However, this is what makes Palia unique and fun. The Spotted Mantis is just one of the many bugs that you can catch in the game, and this guide will help you with that.
Palia Spotted Mantis: How to Get, Find, & Catch
A rare mantis with a beautiful set of spots. Found around the Dragon Shrine in Kilima. – In-game description of Spotted Mantis.
As you can see, the Spotted Mantis’s in-game description pretty much gives you all the important information you need to know about it. But despite all that, catching it isn’t an easy task. Belonging to the Rare tier in Palia, one of the main reasons why the Spotted Mantis is so hard to catch is its resemblance to the Common Field Crickets. It is only after closely looking at the spotted mantis that you will be able to discern the differences. Furthermore, thanks to their ability to hop, players need to be extra vigilant when it comes to catching them.
The right strategy
No matter what you do, the Spotted Mantis will get alert the moment you approach it. When that happens, it will do its best to flee the spot by hopping. However, this is also where its weakness lies. After hopping, the Spotted Mantis will make a brief pause and then resume its hopping. That brief pause is the best time to use Standard Smoke Bombs to capture it. When caught, this rare bug will grant you somewhere between 0-7 Silk Threads.
Location
One good thing about catching the Spotted Mantis is that you can catch it at any time of the day. Aside from that, the biggest hurdle you will face is finding out its spawn location. The in-game description mentions that it can be found in the Dragon Shrine, which is in Maji’s Hollow in the Kilima Valley region. So, we recommend you go there in the evening, as most bugs start spawning around that time. However, as we said earlier, this bug isn’t time-sensitive, so you can catch it at any time of the day.
Sell?
Once you catch the Spotted Mantis, you have the option to sell it. The base variant goes for 120 gold, while the quality variant will net you 180 gold in total.
