Overcooked 3 Release Date for PS5, Xbox Series X & PC

Overcooked is a franchise of infectiously fun cooking simulation games developed by Ghost Town Games, who received help from the publisher of both the original and the sequel, Team17, for the development of the latter. In this article, we will be taking a look at the possibility of a third mainline instalment to the franchise, presumably titled Overcooked 3 being in the developer’s kitchen, and when this potential title could be coming out. Right, let’s get into it.

Overcooked first came out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows in 2016. The game was later adapted to the Nintendo switch in 2017. The main draw to the game is the fact that it offers cooperative cooking gameplay, something that was made popular by the franchise, and its pioneering features did not go unnoticed, with Overcooked winning two academy video game awards, Best British Game and Best Family Game.

The sequel to the game was released in 2018 and built on everything that its predecessor gave us. The aim of the developers was again to overwhelm the players by putting them into new and absurd environments and asking them to prepare food orders that have several elements and require multiple stages of cooking within a set time limit. Bumping into your fellow chefs is not surprising, but commonplace.

In 2020, Overcooked: All You Can Eat was released for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S. It was a compilation of both games remastered for the next-gen hardware, meaning it ran on 4K and 60 FPS natively. However, it was not just a visual remaster, as Team17 and Ghost Town added in 7 brand-new ideas for levels and also nearly 200 levels with similar level design as the original games, to Overcooked: All You Can Eat, along with several new skins, costumes, chefs, and achievements.

Seeing as the first two games had a waiting period of two years between them, and the next-gen Overcooked: All You Can Eat also came out two years after the second game, we can expect either a mainline instalment called Overcooked 3 or maybe even a spin-off in the Overcooked franchise in 2022.

We hope you enjoyed this coverage of the Overcooked franchise. Make sure to check out our articles on SnowRunner 2,  the potential Shang-Chi game, and the leaked info about Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles. Cheers!
