Outriders June 2021 upcoming patch update to bring changes to legendary drops & fix sign-in issues

Outriders has quickly become the premier title for Square Enix, who are best known for their lacklustre performance with the Marvel’s Avengers game, as well as the brilliantly made Life is Strange games. People Can Fly is the name of the development studio behind the game, who have risen to fame due to their involvement in the Gears of War franchise, as well as their co-development of Fortnite: Save the World. In this article, we will discuss what the plans for a potential Outriders 2 could look like. Right, let’s get straight into it.

Seeing as Outriders was released just in April 2021, there could be a bit of a wait before we see any sequels to the game. While Square Enix and People Can Fly have strictly ruled out any possibility of monetizing the game using the game as a service model, they have done no such thing for a potential DLC to Outriders, or a sequel to it. Seeing as the original game took nearly six years to develop, there is every possibility that even if People Can Fly were to start working on a sequel from today, that it only comes out around 2026, in an entirely different console generation.

The Creative Director of People Can Fly, Bartosz Kmita said in an interview with GamesRadar, “there are multiple options that we can use to support the game to give people content, give people things to do, without using the game as a service monetization. Diablo wasn’t a game as a service. They just released the big expansion packs. They were doing it in a different style. Maybe we’ll go that way, or even do some other things. But for sure, we will not abandon the game if players like it.” This seemed to suggest that the devs were keen on releasing a DLC to the game if its popularity was sustained.

Meanwhile, when talking about a potential continuation of the story of Enoch, Lead Game Designer of Outriders, Piotr Nowakowski said, “I hope that the players will convince Square Enix and us to go on with a different title and continue our story on Enoch.” Clearly, everyone at both Square Enix and People Can Fly are thinking about both DLCs and a potential sequel, so there should be no reason why these plans do not go ahead.
