Once Human 100% CPU Usage Issue Is there any fix yet (2)

When you take a look at the recommended system requirements for Once Human, it does not look like a GPU or a CPU-heavy game at all. 16 gigs of required RAM and a 1060 GPU are nothing compared to other recent releases that straight up require a monster gig to run. So, if the game is not hardware-demanding, why are you facing the 100% CPU usage issue while running Once Human on your PC? And most importantly, is there any fix for this? Well, that is what we are going to discuss in this guide so stick to the end.

100% CPU usage errors are not unique to this game. Still, specifically for Once Human, players have reported that “Once Human” uses 100% of their CPU and heavily loads their internet, making it feel like a virus. You might have faced the same and no doubt this intense resource usage impacts system performance and might even cause the game to crash. Anyway, let’s see if there is a fix available.

Once Human 100% CPU Usage Issue Is there any fix yet

Since the game is still fresh off the shelves, the developers have not yet addressed the issue or given a fix. So for now, all we have are fixes that have worked for other players going through the same problem. So without further ado, here are those potential fixes!

Restart

The first and most simple step is to perform a restart! Start by restarting the game and if that does not work, restart your whole system. Finally, a player mentioned that restarting your system after every 2–4 hours usually will result in a balanced CPU usage.

Cap FPS

After the restart, another popular workaround that has emerged has you capping the in-game FPS to 60 FPS initially and, if necessary, lowering it further to 30 FPS. This can be done from the in-game video or display settings, as well as by adjusting the FPS settings via the Nvidia Control Panel or AMD Control Panel. Players have shared that limiting the FPS helps to reduce CPU load. Another thing you can try is limiting the FPS of Once Human via the GPU Control Panel to 60 and setting the in-game FPS limiter to Unlimited or 120.

VSync

Another potential fix is to disable VSync both from the in-game settings and your GPU control panel. Enabling VSync with a 60 FPS limit has caused some users’ CPUs to double in utilization, reaching nearly 90–100%. Disabling VSync can help reduce CPU load to around 45%, improving overall performance and stability.

In-game settings

What you can try when the game launches is to lower or disable graphics-intensive options and make sure the game runs in fullscreen mode. Make sure to turn off CPU-intensive options as well! Tweak around to find the right settings to curb the CPU usage.

Check the game for updates

The developers will likely release patches and updates in the future that may fix bugs, including this one as well. To check for updates on Steam, right-click on “Once Human” in your library, select “Properties”, head to the “Updates” tab, and click “Check for Updates”. Also, make sure that automatic updates are enabled.

Well, these are some workarounds that you can try to fix the 100% CPU usage issue in Once Human. Now, if this guide was helpful, don’t forget to bookmark DigiStatement for more such reads! Read more: Steam Deck PowerTools not working: How to fix it
