Amazon Game Studios has finally released its new MMORPG game New World, and it is available for PC players to play. Developed by Amazon Games Orange County and published by Amazon Game Studios, New World is currently on the road to becoming one of the biggest hits of 2021.
As of the time of writing, the game has over 550K active concurrent players. It is sitting right behind CS: GO in terms of the numbers of active concurrent players in Steam.
With that being said, what players have in mind is that does the game have in-built controller support? Or can the game be played using any type of controller? Here is everything you need to know about the controller setup of Amazon’s New World.
Does the game have an in-built controller setup?
As of now, the answer is no. To be honest, the answer is a bit complicated. The game does not support any in-built controller support. So players cannot just plug in a controller and start playing. When asked the same question, the developers back in March confirmed that the controller support would be available for play with the full release of the game.
But the game has been released now, and players are disappointed about not having in-built controller support. It is more disappointing, given the fact that most of the MMO and RPG games come with full-fledged controller support, while New World does not.
Though the developers currently deny any controller support in the game and any chances of this update coming in the future, they did mention that all the controls and inputs of the game are re-bindable and are compatible with most of the control devices.
The tweet stated that “New World will not fully support controllers at launch, however, all of the game’s inputs are re-bindable and are compatible with most accessibility control devices.”
This means that those who do not wish to play regularly using a mouse and keyboard can use the gamepads and controllers through third-party software like ReWASD or can use them through Steam input or rebind the inputs in the game.
How to use Steam Input?
Using Steam input to play New World through controllers can be an easy option for the players. Here are the steps on how to do it –
Step – 1 – Open Steam on your PC. Then Go to the New World game in the Games menu.
Step – 2 – Go to Properties. A pop-up menu will be displayed. Try to bring the pop-up menu to another screen.
Step – 3 – On the properties option, go to Controller. You will get three options to choose from in the Override option – Enable Steam Input, Disable Steam Input or Use Default Settings. Choose Enable Steam Input. This option is not set by default, and players have to choose it personally.
Step – 4 – Choose your choice of controller. For example, if you have an Xbox controller, go for the same. If you have a PlayStation controller, go for it.
Step – 5 – Start and enter the game. Upon entering, press Tab and Shift to bring the controller configuration within Steam.
Step – 6 – Go back to Steam. In the configuration menu, choose your preferences of controls and enjoy the game!
How to rebind the game inputs?
For those who want to rebind the game inputs rather than going for the Steam inputs, here are the steps to follow –
Step – 1 – Go to the ‘Settings’ menu from either the main menu by selecting the cog in the top right-hand corner of the screen, or pressing ‘Esc’ and navigating over to the ‘Settings’ tab that appears at the top of the screen.
Step – 2 – After doing this, the entire menu of Key Bindings will appear. You can now select the input you want to rebind, and then press the input in the controller you want to bind it to.
These were the steps on how to use controllers in the New World game. Hope you like it!
