Back in 2016, Samsung Electronics America announced its collaboration with T-Mobile US to bring the power of 5G mobile networks to the public. With this collaboration, the companies assessed next-generation network development in real-world mobile use cases and applications and conducted lab and field trials that demonstrated a range of innovative 5G-driven capabilities. Since the partnership was started, T-Mobile and Samsung worked together on many 5G devices such as Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra and also recently launched, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G, the Galaxy Tab S7 5G, and S7+ 5G.

Samsung has started to roll out a new security patch update for T-Mobile variants of Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra. The S20 is getting version update version G981USQU1BTIE while the S20+’s version is G986USQU1BTIE and the S20 Ultra is getting G988USQU1BTIE.

The T-Mobile hasn’t yet updated the official support pages of the above devices and the available changelog doesn’t give much detail about the update. This update is around 500MB for respective devices. As of now, we only know that the update consists of the September security patch, but considering that they’re nearly 500MB in size, you’d think that there are some other changes crammed in, too.

How to install the update?

If you’ve got a Galaxy S20, S20+, or S20 Ultra, on your phone go to Settings -> Software update -> Download and install to check the update and install it.

Next Update – One UI 3.0?

Last month, Samsung started an Android 11 based One UI 3.0 beta program for the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. The 1st beta update was made available from September 15, 2020. Now, the South Korean OEM is planning for a 2nd beta update and it will be available for Samsung’s latest flagship series very soon.

Android 11 based One UI 3 comes with exciting new features from Samsung and Google based on feedback from users like us. For a better experience, Voice Assistant has been replaced by Talkback. You will get an improved Quick menu using multi-finger gestures with Talkback.

The latest Samsung Galaxy S20 5G series smartphones were launched on 11th February 2020. The phone comes with a 6.20″ Ultra OLED display with a resolution of 1440×3200 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9 which to give crisp image and beautiful colors. The Samsung Galaxy S20 5G is powered by an octa-core Samsung Exynos 990 processor. The device comes with up to 12GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S20 5G runs on Android 10 out of the box and is powered by a decent 4000mAh battery. The phone also supports wireless charging and fast charging. The 128GB/8GB model costs Rs. 70,499.
